Nico was born Christa Päffgen in Cologne, five years after the Nazis came to power in Germany.

By the mid-1980s, the band consisted of principal members Richards and keyboardist Brian Chatton ( born Brian Charles Chatton, 19 July 1948, in Bolton, Lancashire ), along with Jeff Seopardi on drums, Nico Ramsden on guitar, and Mark Smith on bass.

Dylan later left for Europe, completing a few performances in England before traveling to Paris where he was introduced to a German model, Christa Paffgen, who went by the name of Nico.

" Fashion model and singer Christa Päffgen, who adopted the pseudonym of Nico and later performed with The Velvet Underground before pursuing a solo career, plays herself in the " party of the nobles " scene.

In 1962 Nico gave birth to her son, Christian Aaron " Ari " Päffgen, commonly held to have been fathered by French actor Alain Delon.

She also appeared in the Garrel films Anathor ( 1972 ); the silent Jean Seberg feature Les Hautes Solitudes, released in 1974 ; Un ange passe ( 1975 ); Le Berceau de cristal ( 1976 ), starring Pierre Clémenti, Nico and Anita Pallenberg ; and Voyage au jardin des morts ( 1978 ).

Nico means " conquer " in Greek, and laitan refers to lay people, or laity ; hence, the word may be taken to mean " lay conquerors " or " conquerors of the lay people ".

The early medieval linear earthwork Nico Ditch passes through Denton ; it was probably used as an administrative boundary and dates from the 8th or 9th centuries.

The record was released in early 1968, at a time when there was a receptive audience for “ underground music ” which combined musical experimentalism with radical social and / or political lyrics – other examples, in their very different ways, including the Velvet Underground ( who shared a common background in the New York experimental music scene ; according to Moskowitz, Nico at one point tried to join the USA ), Frank Zappa ( whom Byrd considered a niche-marketer " subsumed in a self-referential loop "), Love ’ s Forever Changes, Country Joe and the Fish, and Jefferson Airplane.

The two took on controversial civil rights and criminal cases, including cases where they represented Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, head of the Egyptian-based terrorist group Gama ' a al-Islamiyah, responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing ; Colin Ferguson, the man responsible for the LIRR shootings, who would later reject Kuby & Kunstler's legal counsel and choose to represent himself at trial ; Qubilah Shabazz, the daughter of Malcolm X, accused of plotting to murder Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam ; Glenn Harris, a New York public school teacher who absconded with a fifteen-year-old girl for two months ; Nico Minardos, a flamboyant actor indicted by Rudy Giuliani for conspiracy to ship arms to Iran ; Darrell Cabey, one of the persons shot by Bernard Goetz ; and associates of the Gambino crime family.

Unexpectedly, one of the three belugas, Nico, died at SeaWorld on October 31, 2009 ; a preliminary necropsy was unable to determine if Nico's death was caused by the move or by something else.

Still a student, he made his début as a composer in 1940 with the song cycle L ' amour ( 1939 ; for soprano, flute, clarinet and string trio ), written at the request of the young composer / conductor Nico Richter, who was in charge of the students ' orchestra.

Their time there lasted only three years ; in 1907, Davies's father died of cancer and his mother took Davies and his brothers George, Jack, Michael, and Nico back to London.

On 11 October 2008, Cale hosted an event to pay tribute to Nico called " Life Along the Borderline " in celebration of what, five days later, would have been her 70th birthday.

On October 14, 2011, Funimation announced a partnership with Niconico, the English-language version of Nico Nico Douga, to form the ' Funico ' brand for the licensing of anime for streaming and home video release.

The belugas were transferred to SeaWorld San Antonio where Nico died unexpectedly on October 31, 2009.

In the book Songs They Never Play on the Radio, James Young, a member of her band in the 1980s, recalls many examples of her troubling behaviour due to her " overwhelming " addiction – and also that Nico claimed to have never taken the drug while with the Velvets / Factory scene but only began using during her relationship with Philippe Garrel in the 1970s.
