The original model that produced just and had a top speed of only ( even the fastest of the later models struggled to ) was unsuited to the expanding post-war US freeway network, and was never widely accepted in North America, unlike the Volkswagen Beetle, which was designed with Autobahns in mind and could reach speeds of over 115 km / h ( and later versions were faster still ).

US 281 continues to the north as a freeway providing access to the San Antonio International Airport and later the far North Central Side.

The short elevated section of I-45 which forms the southern boundary of downtown Houston is known as the Pierce Elevated, after the surface street next to which the freeway runs, while north of Interstate 10 it is known as the North Freeway.

The northern portion is a six-to eight-lane freeway referred to locally as the North – South Freeway ( or simply the 42 Freeway ) that is directly connected to the Atlantic City Expressway.

The Washington State Department of Transportation ( WSDOT ) is constructing the US 395 North Spokane Corridor, which is a completely new freeway that will run from I-90 ( around the Thor / Freya exit ) northward to the existing US 395 north of Wandermere.

The City of Halifax named a street at the top of Fairview between Melrose and Adelaide in honor of Gesner in Halifax, formally the street was named Dunbrack ST, The completion of the Dunbrack Street / North West Arm Drive connectors with the Highway 102 freeway during the 1980s required a remaming of the original Dunbrack St.

Leased to a private consortium in 1999, Highway 407 was formerly planned as a 400-series freeway to bypass the Toronto segment of Highway 401, currently the busiest highway in North America.

As the QEW was the first long distance freeway in North America, several design restrictions were not considered and further expansion of the highway is inhibited by the proximity of properties throughout most of its length.

Other examples of non-400-series numbered freeways in the provincial inventory are at Thorold ( Highway 58 ), Peterborough to Enterprise Hill ( Highway 115 ), North Bay and southward ( Highway 11 ) and Sudbury ( Highway 17, though it is possible that the long-term expansion of Highway 417 could incorporate that freeway section of Highway 17 ).

The freeway enters the city limits of Haltom City at North Beach Street and has an interchange with US 377 before entering North Richland Hills.

As it passes through North Richland Hills, the freeway turns towards the southeast briefly before turning back towards the east at SH 26.

This new freeway, called the North – South Freeway, opened between Bellmawr and the Black Horse Pike in Blackwood in 1958 and from Blackwood to Turnersville in 1959.

With the opening of the freeway, the Route 42 designation was moved to the North – South Freeway and the Black Horse Pike between Turnersville and Camden became Route 168.

This freeway begins in West Sacramento as a fork from the original Interstate 80, continues northeast over the Sacramento River to its interchange with Interstate 5, continues east through the communities of North Sacramento and Del Paso Heights and ends at an interchange with the Roseville Freeway Interstate 80.

SR 20 enters Island County via the Port Townsend-Coupeville ( Keystone ) ferry route from the West, and departs via the Deception Pass Bridge in the North.

The boundaries of Union Park are North Dean Road to the west, the Econlockhatchee River to the west and north, J Blanchard Trail to the north, Rouse Road ( SR 434 ) to the east, and Bloomfield Drive to the south.

There are two emergency callboxes located in the Town of Shandaken, one on the North facing side of the Town Hall ( SR 28 ) and the other on the South facing side of the Town Police Department ( located on SR 42 )

from the east, SR 21 passes through the center of town by becoming East 2nd Avenue then turning left on to North I Street then right onto North 1st Street.

The station became the London terminus of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway ( LT & SR ) in 1858 ; additionally, from 1850 until the opening of Broad Street station in 1865 it was also the City terminus of the North London Railway.

North of SR 52, it closely parallels Interstate 5 near La Jolla.

North of Fair Drive, SR 55 is an at-grade or above-grade freeway, with the exception of a stretch between the 1st Street / 4th Street exit and the 17th Street exit in Santa Ana, which is below-grade.

Likewise, there is no interchange from US 101 North to SR 134 East.

SR 400 is known locally as the " Georgia Autobahn ", the " North Georgia Autobahn ", or the " Alpharetta Autobahn " due to the prevalence of speeding.

After 1970, the easternmost portion of SR 522 from Bothell to Woodinville, Redmond, and North Bend was renumbered as State Route 202, and the portion of what had been SR 202 between Bothell and Monroe was renumbered as SR 522.

Access for occasional goods services to Blackwall and North Greenwich via the North London Railway at Poplar continued until 1968, but with the closure of the docks the line was completely abandoned, leaving only the Fenchurch Street – Stepney section still in use, by the LT & SR.

North of Angola, SR 127 has an interchange with Interstate 69 ( I-69 ).

North of the railroad tracks the route passes through residential properties, before coming to an four-way stop at SR 8.

North of SR 8 the road leaves Garrett and makes a sharp curve turning due west.

North of SR 252, SR 9 heads northeast then northwest toward Shelbyville.

North of SR 44, SR 9 has a roundabout in downtown Shelbyville.
