Other metropolitan areas are centered around the cities of Baguio, Dagupan, Angeles, Olongapo, Batangas, Naga, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga City and Davao.

There are fourteen cities which include: Balanga in Bataan ; Malolos, Meycauayan and San Jose del Monte in Bulacan ; Cabanatuan, Gapan, Muñoz, Palayan and San Jose in Nueva Ecija ; Angeles, Mabalacat City and San Fernando in Pampanga ; Tarlac in Tarlac ; and Olongapo in Zambales. Central Luzon produces the most rice in the whole country. Excess rice is delivered and imported to other provinces of the Philippines.

The City of Olongapo (; Sambal: Syodad nin Olongapo ) is an independent highly urbanized city located in the province of Zambales, Philippines.

Dinalupihan was embroiled in a “ political war ” against the Gordons of Olongapo when its favorite son, Tong Payumo was appointed Chairman of SBMA by President Joseph Estrada.

The port facilities at Olongapo were captured by the 34th Regiment Combat Team on 30 January as well as Grande Island in Subic Bay after an amphibious landing.

Six years later under Mayor James Leonard T. Gordon, Olongapo was reconverted to a chartered city on June 1, 1966.

Olongapo impressed its visitors as being one of the finest communities in the country.

None of its former landmarks — with the exceptions of the Station Chapel ( it was the Olongapo Parish Church before the war ) and the Spanish Gate — withstood the sweep of the war's fury.

Olongapo however was built on a new completely undeveloped site a couple of miles north of its former site.

When the 4th Marines arrived in the Philippines on 30 November 1941, it incorporated the Marines at Cavite and Olongapo Naval Stations into its understrength ranks.

Likewise, this period gave way for different developments: Olongapo had a taste of some of its best years ; the base was lined with trees and plants, and several recreational facilities were constructed.

A short tour of duty with the Asiatic Fleet took him along the coast of China, before he returned to Olongapo in late May 1922.

Along with the town of Subic, it comprises the Metro Olongapo, one of the twelve metropolitan areas in the Philippines.

The naval infantry consisted of 150 ground crewmen from Patrol Wing Ten, 80 sailors from the Cavite Naval Ammunition Depot, and 130 sailors from USS Canopus ( AS-9 ) with 120 sailors from the base facilities at Cavite, Olongapo, and Mariveles, and 120 Marines from an antiaircraft battery.

The Japanese claimed Subic and Olongapo on January 10, 1942, days after the Pearl Harbor attack, bringing with them the devastation of World War II.
