Cynic, Atheist, Opeth, Pestilence, Between the Buried and Me and Meshuggah all blended jazz fusion with death metal, but in dramatically different ways.

My Arms, Your Hearse was the first Opeth album with drummer Martin Lopez, who answered a newspaper ad that Opeth put up searching for this spot to be taken after Anders Nordin left.

Extol has toured the US and Europe several times with such bands as Mastodon, God Forbid and Opeth.

Following the release, Extol toured Europe and US with the Swedish progressive death metal group Opeth.

Afterwards, Extol toured Europe with Mastodon, God Forbid, and Opeth, and US with Haste the Day, Becoming the Archetype, and The Showdown.

According to Rocknworld, with Orchid, Opeth " became the foremost purveyors of what would come to be known as extreme progressive metal " and " exploded on the scene with a majestic style that reinvented what progressive meant.

Opeth played a show in February 1991, along with Therion, Excruciate and Authorise, in Stockholm.
