Jim Shooter and Dennis O ' Neil were hired by Hasbro to create the backstory ; O ' Neil also created the name " Optimus Prime.

After the incident at one of the factories owned by Isaac Sumdac ( in which the fragment of the Allspark was the cause of this ), Sentinel Prime threatened to make sure Optimus was charged with treason for destroying the Allspark, however Optimus had grown tired of Sentinel's arrogance and reminded him despite being an Elite Guard washout, he and Sentinel still shared equal rank and told him he was on " his turf now ".

Optimus is giving a piece of Cybertron's spark for safe-keeping ( The Matrix of Leadership ).

Optimus of Sweden manufactures a line of similarly designed stoves in which the stove's components are entirely enclosed in a folding metal case, the most popular of which were the Optimus 8R and Optimus 111 ( and still in production as the Optimus Hiker ).

" Dictators were also appointed to serve administrative or religious functions, such as holding elections ( comitiorum habendorum causa, the second most common form of dictatorship ) or driving a nail into the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus to end a pestilence ( clavi figendi causa ).

Through use of Spy Satellites, Teletraan created new alternate forms for the Transformers out of earth vehicles ( Like F-15 Eagles for Starscream and a Semi-trailer truck for Optimus Prime ).

In Japanese continuity, Optimus Primal is depicted as bearing one of these Matrices, which is in conflict with the American series, in which he did not possess one ( as he was merely a scientific explorer and starship captain of no notable standing ).

The Optimus Prime of the alternate universe of Transformers: Armada also possesses a Matrix ( Much like the original Matrix, it serves as the symbol of the Autobot Commander ).

In Transformers: Car Robot ( also known as Transformers: Robots In Disguise in Western countries ), God Fire Convoy ( also known as Omega Prime ) was powered by Fire Convoy's ( also known as Optimus Prime's ) personal Matrix, which also augmented itself with the God Sword ( forged by Brave Maximus, also known as Fortress Maximus ) and used it to defeat Devil Gigatron ( also known as Galvatron ).

During the Transformers: Generation 2 toyline, Optimus Prime received multiple toy forms in a relatively short period of time, and to explain these numerous bodies, the tech spec of his " Go-Bot " incarnation, credited an internal " Reconfiguration Matrix " with the change ( similarly, the original Matrix is credited with reformatting Prime from his " Hero " body into his " Laser " body in the Japanese G2 manga ).

* Transformers: Cybertron Optimus Prime ( 2005 ): The Transformers: Cybertron incarnation of the character ( known as Galaxy Convoy in Japan ) comes with a Matrix which can be stored inside the chest and removed, and can be held by the figure, somewhat awkwardly ( his fingers are one solid section, but can move ).

* T. H. S .- 01 Galaxy Convoy ( 2005 ): A beautifully sculpted Japanese exclusive miniature of Galaxy Force Galaxy Convoy ( Cybertron Optimus Prime ).

The Key to Vector Sigma is given to Jack Darby by Optimus in " One Shall Rise, Part 2 ", a 1st season finale episode of Transformers: Prime ( 2010 – present ).

In the Transformers: Prime universe, Primus does not appear physically ( though one could argue that the planet Cybertron and Primus are one and the same ), though the " Core of Cybertron " which appears in Transformers: War for Cybertron may actually be Primus ( if true then Primus would be the one who gave Optimus Prime the Matrix of Leadership ).

The Star Saber appears in the episode " Legacy ", embedded in rock and Megatron recognizing the legendary weapon, is determined to keep it out of Optimus Prime's hands and orders his soldiers remove the entire rock ( unable to pull out the sword ).

Optimus wielding the Star Saber confronts Megatron, and discovers Megatron had the right hand of a deceased Prime attached to himself in order to use the Forge of Solus Prime to create his own sword the " Dark Star Saber " ( which Megatron calls the Slayer of Primes ) which is forged of Dark Energon ( the blood of Unicorn ).

Their first appearance was in issue 54, where Optimus Prime summoned the Race Car Patrol and Off-Road Patrol from Cybertron in order to reinforce the Autobots on Earth ( after the Underbase powered Starscream's rampage ).
