* September 1 – A group of Icaiche Maya under Marcos Canul attack Orange Walk Town in British Honduras ; the British send troops against them.

They live in the Orange Walk and Corozal districts, which border on Mexico.

Two years later, Canul and 150 men attacked the barracks at Orange Walk.

For years it was the second largest population centre in the country behind Belize City, but in recent years has been surpassed by Orange Walk Town.

Orange Walk Town is the second largest town in the nation of Belize, with a population of about 13, 400 ( Official Release of the Main Findings of the 2010 Population and Housing Census ).

It is the capital of the Orange Walk District.

Orange Walk Town is located on the left bank of the New River, 53 miles north of Belize City and 30 miles ( 50 km ) south of Corozal Town.

Today, this industry continues to thrive in the region, and Orange Walk Town is nicknamed " Sugar City ".

Most districts cover multiple counties ; District 12 ( Orange County ) is the only district with one county.

The Orange River rises in the Drakensberg mountains in northeastern Lesotho and flows across the entire length of the country before exiting to South Africa at the Mohale's Hoek District in the southwest.

On March 11, 1966, these landowners, all fully owned subsidiaries of what is now The Walt Disney Company, petitioned the Circuit Court of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, which served Orange County, Florida, for the creation of the Reedy Creek Drainage District under Chapter 298 of the Florida Statutes.

The eligible bonds were chosen randomly, causing the District to beat out Orange County, which had planned to build low-income housing, in 1989.

The District does not have a police force, instead allowing Orange County and Osceola County to respond to incidents.

Now a Virginia bed and breakfast inn, the Holladay House is one of the two oldest standing structures in historic downtown Orange, and is registered with the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Orange Commercial Historic District.

In 1834, U. S. Army Captain Seth Lore and others developed what is now the downtown area, naming the four main north-south avenues " Livingston ," " Orange ," " Randolph ," and " Eufaula " ( L-O-R-E .) The Seth Lore and Irwinton Historic District of Eufaula has been defined as encompassing much of the oldest part of the city.

All four schools are operated by the Orange Unified School District, which also happens to be the largest employer within the City.
