At this time, Anubis was the most important god of the dead but he was replaced during the Middle Kingdom by Osiris.

In this manner, he was a Lord of the Underworld, only usurped by Osiris.

Indeed, when the Myth of Osiris and Isis emerged, it was said that when Osiris had been killed by Set, Osiris ' organs were given to Anubis as a gift.

Dualism was first seen implicitly in Egyptian Religious beliefs by the contrast of the Gods Set ( disorder, death ) and Osiris ( order, life ).

In this state, he was directly identified with Ra, and was also associated with Osiris, god of death and rebirth and the mythological father of Horus.

Banebdjed was consequently said to be Horus ' father, as Banebdjed was an aspect of Osiris.

As a funerary deity, she was associated with Osiris, lord of the underworld, and was considered his wife.

Plutarch, a Greek scholar who lived from 46 CE to 120 CE, wrote Isis and Osiris, which is considered a main source about the very late myths about Isis.

According to some sources, only through these acts can Osiris be fully enlivened in the afterlife and take his place as king of the dead, paralleling his son's role as king of the living.

The Apis bull is unique as he is the only Egyptian deity represented solely as an animal, and never as a human with an animal's head — perhaps, because from the earliest of Egyptian religious practices, they were animals sacrificed to the cow goddess and represented the resurrected, renewal of life ( Hapy and later Osiris ).

Other stations are abandoned, and Osiris and Anubis are the only two powers in the Universe now.

However, when Osiris and his friend Sobek, the talking crocodile, are alone, he admits that he was only putting up a front to appease those around him, and that he could never forgive himself for killing anyone, as Black Adam has.

Osiris does so, only to be betrayed and brutally devoured by Sobek, while in his mortal form.
