Ovid and dated
In Cruttwell's introduction, the Golden Age is dated 80 BC 14 AD (" from Cicero to Ovid "), which is about the same as Teuffel's.
While all ancient sources ( excluding Ovid ) dated the end of this period and start of the mythical ( mythikón ) period to 2376 2050 BC, most did not claim to know when the creation ( ádelon period ) exactly began.
An elegy of Ovid dated to 2 BCE makes it clear that Propertius was dead by this time.

Ovid and mythikón
Most ancient Greek and Roman chroniclers, poets, grammarians and scholars ( Eratosthenes, Varro, Apollodorus of Athens, Ovid, Censorinus, Catullus, and Castor of Rhodes ) believed in a threefold division of history: ádelon ( obscure ), mythikón ( mythical ) and historikón ( historical ) periods.

Ovid and period
It refers primarily to the erudite, shorter hexameter poems of the Hellenistic period and the similar works composed at Rome from the age of the neoterics ; to a lesser degree, the term includes some poems of the English Renaissance, particularly those influenced by Ovid.
This period began with the first known speech of Cicero and ended with the death of Ovid.
Ovid tells this story shortly after the Judgement of Arms, where he shows how perceptions of Odysseus in Ovid's time were very different from the Archaic period in Greece.
In the Renaissance, the Silvae thanks to Poliziano helped inspire an entire genre of collections of miscellaneous, occasional poetry called Sylvae which remained popular throughout the period, inspiring works by Hugo Grotius and John Dryden, Dante mentions Statius in De vulgari eloquentia along with Ovid, Virgil and Lucan as one of the four regulati poetae ( ii, vi, 7 ).

Ovid, on the other hand, supposes that the island was not uninhabited at the time of the birth of Aeacus, and states that, in the reign of Aeacus, Hera, jealous of Aegina, ravaged the island bearing the name of the latter by sending a plague or a fearful dragon into it, by which nearly all its inhabitants were carried off, and that Zeus restored the population by changing the ants into men.
In Latin literature, Augustan poetry is the poetry that flourished during the reign of Caesar Augustus as Emperor of Rome, most notably including the works of Virgil, Horace, and Ovid.
The poet Ovid, who wrote during the reign of Augustus, records the best-known myth that explains the association of the cypress with grief.
