* Paul Touvier

Paul Touvier ( April 3, 1915-July 17, 1996 ) was a Nazi collaborator in Occupied France during World War II.

Paul Touvier was born in Saint-Vincent-sur-Jabron, Alpes de Haute-Provence, in southeastern France.

According to Ted Morgan, " Paul Touvier was assigned to expedite packages for prisoners of war, which got him into a spot of trouble, for he was caught removing the chocolate and the cigarettes from some of the packages.

Paul Touvier found that his job was not only collecting intelligence but taking part in arrests and other actions.

Beginning in 1957, Monsignor Charles Duquaire, secretery to the Archbishop of Lyons, began gathering information and advocating a pardon for Paul Touvier.

Paul Touvier was granted provisional release in July 1991.

On July 17, 1996, Paul Touvier died at age 81 of prostate cancer in Fresnes prison, near Paris.

Touvier met Brel by reportedly approaching him in a restaurant and saying, " I am Paul Touvier, a condemned man.

The most notable of these was Paul Touvier, the former commander of the Milice in Lyons.

He had shaped it from the story of Paul Touvier, a Vichy French Milice official, who hid out for years, often sheltered by the Catholic Church, and was indicted in 1991 for war crimes.

Paul Touvier died of prostate cancer in 1996 at the Fresnes prison hospital during his incarceration for war crimes.

Many war criminals were judged only in the 1980s, including Paul Touvier, Klaus Barbie, Maurice Papon and his deputy Jean Leguay.
