It changed its name Petfoods in 1957, Pedigree Petfoods in 1972 and most recently Masterfoods in January 2002.

Other sponsors have decided to promote different products with their sponsor dollars, such as Mars with standard schemes for M & M's and Snickers candy, Pedigree dog food, and Combos snacks, and Kellogg's with the standard Kellogg's and Cheez-It snacks ( a Kellogg's product ) schemes, and FedEx, which uses five different schemes with color differences to promote four different brands — Express, Ground, Freight, and Kinko's.

The company makes the market leaders Pedigree ( dog food ) and Whiskas ( cat food ), as well as kitekat ( cat food ) and Pal ( dog food ).

In Australia, the Pal dog food brand was progressively replaced by the Pedigree logo during the 1980s-2000s.

In January 2009, after the BBC documentary Pedigree Dogs Exposed, The Kennel Club introduced revised breed standards for the British Bulldog, along with 209 other breeds, to address health concerns.
