Picard and a team attempt to reach engineering to disable the Borg with corrosive coolant used in the warp core, but the android Data is captured and meets the queen of the Borg collective, who gains his trust by giving part of him human skin.

While the crew heads to escape pods, Picard remains aboard to rescue Data.

As Cochrane, Riker, and engineer Geordi La Forge prepare to activate the warp drive on the Phoenix, Picard confronts the Borg Queen and discovers she has grafted human skin onto Data, giving him an array of new sensations.

During the events of the comic book mini-series Star Trek: Countdown ( which serves as the canonical prequel to the 2009 Star Trek film ), Geordi ( now a commander ) is reunited with Data and Picard during an effort to stop a massive supernova that threatens all of existence.

According to Star Trek: Countdown ( 2009 ), Data ( in the form of the android B-4 ) assumed command of the Enterprise after Captain Picard retired from Starfleet to become the Ambassador to Vulcan.

In the film Star Trek: Nemesis, Data beams Picard off an enemy ship before destroying it, sacrificing himself, saving the captain and crew of the Enterprise.

This is most definitively demonstrated in Star Trek: Insurrection where Picard and Worf distract an erratically behaving Data by singing two parts of A British Tar, compelling Data to sing the third part.

This results in Picard, Data and Barclay unknowingly becoming trapped in a Moriarty-created simulation of the Enterprise itself, and forced to research a method of making holo-simulations " real " outside of the holodeck through Moriarty's manipulations.

Although Porthos isn't the first domesticated pet to be featured in a Star Trek series ( Data owned a cat, Spot, in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Captain Jean-Luc Picard owned a lionfish named Livingston ), Porthos has the distinction of being the first pet to maintain an ongoing presence in the series, and even-as illustrated above-become the focus of an episode.

After stopping Data, USS Enterprise captain Jean-Luc Picard becomes suspicious of Dougherty's insistence that the Enterprise is no longer needed, and his crew investigates the cause for Data's malfunction.

* In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode " The Big Goodbye " ( obviously in reference to The Big Sleep and The Long Goodbye ), a computer malfunction traps Picard, Data, and Beverly in a 1940s Dixon Hill detective story holodeck program.

Throughout the mystery, the player will often encounter characters from the Star Trek universe, including Captain Picard and Commander Data.

Chief Engineer La Forge and Worf work on a way to disable the Tamarian's scattering field to beam up Picard, while Troi and Data work on deciphering the Tamarian language.

While some characters such as Geordi La Forge and Beverly Crusher remain recognisable from their descriptions in the initial casting call, some differences are apparent such as " Julien Picard " lapsing into a French accent when he becomes emotional and Data being non-Caucasian.

Justman wanted Stewart in the show in some capacity, and with Roddenberry opposing him as Picard, Justman suggested that he might be a good fit instead for Data.

Picard breaks free from the Borg control and tells Data to " sleep.

Dr. Crusher and Data are then able to successfully remove all Borg implants from Picard.

Picard initially does not assign Commander Data command of a ship, but after Data questions him about the omission, he gives him the Sutherland.

When the network destabilizes, Picard orders the fleet to retreat and reform the net, but Data observes that he can trace the source of the disruption.

Though Captain Jean-Luc Picard opts for Data's plan, Data realizes that the " three " message was in reference to the number of insignia pips worn by Riker, and initiates Riker's plan instead.

Captain Picard was annoyed by Crusher at first, as Picard is uncomfortable around all children, but he comes to realize that Crusher understands many things beyond his age and has inherited his mother's high level of intelligence.

The crew try to communicate with Picard in the holodeck but find it impossible ; and they quickly realize the holodeck's functions have been affected by the Jaradan signal, preventing them from even opening the doors to the room.

Meanwhile, Picard and Crusher, who are still following the map, realize that the implants in their necks allow them to read each other's thoughts — whether they want to or not.

Still able to hear each other's thoughts, they realize that there is not only a strong attraction between them — but Picard was once in love with Crusher, but he chose to suppress his feelings because of his friendship with her late husband Jack, who was an officer under his command aboard the Stargazer., and then later due to guilt over Jack's death under his command.

Enterprise Captain Jean Luc Picard learns more about Soran from Enterprise bartender Guinan ; Soran and Guinan were among those rescued by the Enterprise-B.

Picard is transported to the planet's surface and finds Soran working on a missile, protected by a shield.

The Veridian sun collapses and Soran and Picard are transported to the Nexus before the shock wave annihilates the planet.

Picard convinces Kirk to return to Picard's present and stop Soran.

Picard convinces Kirk to return to Picard's present to help stop the villain Soran from destroying Veridian III's sun.

* Star Trek Generations ( 1994 ): Palmdale, although not mentioned by name in the film, was the filming location of the scenes where Captain Jean Luc Picard and Captain James T. Kirk battle with Dr. Tolian Soran on the surface of Veridian III.

* In the film Star Trek Generations, the villain Tolian Soran quotes from Schwartz's poem, “ Calmly We Walk Through This April's Day ”, telling Captain Jean-Luc Picard, “ They say time is the fire in which we burn .” Playwright Philip Ridley uses the same line as one of the epigraphs for his 2012 play Shivered.

Picard finds a hole in Soran's shield, but is too late to stop him from launching the missile.

Picard asks for help from an " echo " of Guinan in the Nexus ; she sends him to meet Kirk, who is also safe in the Nexus.

Kirk is mortally wounded from the encounter ; as he dies, Picard assures him that he helped to make a difference.

Picard, Worf, and the ship's navigator, Lieutenant Hawk, stop the Borg from calling reinforcements with the deflector dish, but Hawk is assimilated.

Patrick Stewart plays Jean-Luc Picard, the captain of the USS Enterprise-E who is haunted by his time as a member of the Borg Collective.

In his debut, " Encounter at Farpoint ", Picard and the Enterprise crew are put on trial arguing that humanity is a dangerous race and should be destroyed.

In the same episode, Q says that Picard is " the closest thing in this universe that I have to a friend.

" Toward the end of The Next Generation, Q is less antagonistic toward Picard, even, in " Tapestry ", apparently saving Picard and helping the captain better understand himself ( although whether Q actually appeared in this episode or was merely a hallucination Picard experienced during surgery is deliberately left ambiguous ).

In the series finale, " All Good Things ...", Q gives Picard a " helping hand " in saving humanity by helping him figure out what is causing " anti-time " to flow into the universe which will invariably stop humanity from ever being born.

Encounter At Farpoint is the first time Picard and Dr. Crusher's son Wesley truly meet face to face.

During the progression of the series the attraction or affection between the two is made more apparent, though both Crusher and Picard try to conceal their feelings ; neither wants to admit to the other how they feel, though they have both been seen on separate occasions talking with other crew members about it, most notably, William Riker and Deanna Troi.

In the series finale " All Good Things ...", it is revealed that in an alternate future, Dr. Crusher and Captain Picard had been married and then divorced — still evidently having feelings for each other after so many years.

However that timeline, as well as that version of the future, is destroyed when Picard changes the past.

In the four TNG movies, the flirtation between Dr. Crusher and Captain Picard remains, though it is not as obvious as previous episodes and most certainly not part of the substantial movie plots.
