In the Battle of Loos, notable for being the first battle in which British forces used poison gas, the 9th ( Scottish ) Division assaulted the Hohenzollern Redoubt, the 5th Camerons suffered horrific casualties, and Corporal James Dalgleish Pollock gained a Victoria Cross for his actions.

Balfour suffered the same problems as the Pollock Brothers in being unable to attract workers from the town to walk the 3-miles to work.

However, a week later during the First Test against South Africa, he suffered a blow to the head from a short-pitched delivery by Peter Pollock.

The Whitechapel has premiered international artists such as Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Nan Goldin, and provided a showcase for Britain ’ s most significant artists from Gilbert & George to Lucian Freud, Peter Doig, Ian McKeever, to Mark Wallinger.

Initially influenced by Jackson Pollock and Robert Rauschenberg-Rauschenberg's exhibition of grass seeds, Growing Painting, 1954, left ' a significant impression on him ' - he began to formulate ideas about ' chance method schemes ' that would eventually be printed as a booklet by the Something Else Press as Chance Imagery ( 1957 / 66 ).

The collection, which totals over 12, 000 works, includes significant paintings by American artists such as Jackson Pollock, Stuart Davis, Richard Diebenkorn, Peter Golfinopoulos, Sam Gilliam, Adolph Gottlieb, Joan Mitchell, Robert Motherwell, Ad Reinhardt, and Marsden Hartley, as well as European artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Max Beckmann, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin, Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Giorgio de Chirico, Lyonel Feininger, Juan Gris, Alexej von Jawlensky, Fernand Léger, Joan Miró, Giorgio Morandi, and Chaim Soutine.

The other Rutherford films ( all directed by George Pollock ) were Murder at the Gallop ( 1963 ), based on the 1953 Hercule Poirot novel After the Funeral ( In this film, she is identified as Miss JTV Marple, though there was no indication as to what the extra initials might stand for ); Murder Most Foul ( 1964 ), based on the 1952 Poirot novel Mrs McGinty's Dead ; and Murder Ahoy!

In October 1945, Pollock married American painter Lee Krasner, and in November they moved to what is now known as the Pollock-Krasner House and Studio, at 830 Springs Fireplace Road, in the Springs area of East Hampton, on Long Island, NY.

One possible influence on Pollock was the work of the Ukrainian American artist Janet Sobel ( 1894 – 1968 ) ( born Jennie Lechovsky ).

The critic Clement Greenberg, with Jackson Pollock, saw Sobel's work there in 1946, and in his essay " American-Type ' Painting " Greenberg cited those works as the first instance of all-over painting he had seen, stating that " Pollock admitted that these pictures had made an impression on him ".

The 1787 dismissal of Governor Patterson and his recall to London in 1789 dampened his brother's efforts, leading John to focus on his interests in the United States ( one of John's sons, Commodore Daniel Patterson, became a noted United States Navy hero, and John's grandsons, Rear Admiral Thomas H. Another income tax statute in 1894 was overturned in Pollock v. Farmers ' Loan & Trust Co. in 1895, where the Supreme Court held that income taxes on income from property, such as rent income, interest income, and dividend income ( but not income taxes on income from wages, employment, etc.

This amendment exempted income taxes from the constitutional requirements regarding direct taxes, after income taxes on rents, dividends, and interest were ruled to be direct taxes in Pollock v. Farmers ' Loan & Trust Co. ( 1895 ).

In Pollock v. Farmers ' Loan & Trust Co., the Supreme Court declared certain taxes on incomes — such as those on property under the 1894 Act — to be unconstitutionally unapportioned direct taxes.

After Pollock, while income taxes on wages ( as indirect taxes ) were still not required to be apportioned by population, taxes on interest, dividends and rent income were required to be apportioned by population.

In Brushaber v. Union Pacific Railroad,, the Supreme Court ruled that ( 1 ) the Sixteenth Amendment removes the Pollock requirement that certain income taxes ( such as taxes on income " derived from real property " that were the subject of the Pollock decision ), be apportioned among the states according to population ; ( 2 ) the federal income tax statute does not violate the Fifth Amendment's prohibition against the government taking property without due process of law ; ( 3 ) the federal income tax statute does not violate the Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 requirement that excises, also known as indirect taxes, be imposed with geographical uniformity.

Likewise, Jackson Pollock invented an entirely new form of painting and a new kind of abstraction by dripping, pouring, splashing and splattering paint onto unstretched canvas lying on the floor.

However, building on theories of defeasible reasoning ( see John L. Pollock ), systems have been built that define well-formedness of arguments, rules governing the process of introducing arguments based on fixed assumptions, and rules for shifting burden.

Pollock was established in July, 1873 by H. F. Warner and William Lane and originally consisted of thirty-two blocks.

One side of the monument reads: “ Erected to the Memory of an Amiable Child, St. Claire Pollock, Died 15 July 1797 in the Fifth Year of His Age .” The monument is composed of a granite urn on a granite pedestal inside a wrought iron fence.

Jim Pollock ( born July 8, 1930 ) is a retired politician in Ontario, Canada.

Howard Wallace Pollock ( April 11, 1920 – January 9, 2011 ) was an American politician and Republican Representative from Alaska.

From 1998 until his death in January 2011 Pollock was a resident of Arlington, Virginia.

In May 2011, Pollock announced his creation of Propulsion Universelle et Recuperation d ' Energie ( PURE ), an engineering company which aims to produce F1 engines for the technical regulations.

Seven Mary Three formed in 1992 when Jason Ross and Jason Pollock met while attending The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
