The wooden Pooh Bridge in Ashdown Forest, where Pooh and Piglet invented Poohsticks, is a tourist attraction.

In one episode, he invented a bulldozer-like contraption intended to provide convenience for Pooh, Piglet, and Rabbit, but the invention proved to have disastrous results, and Rabbit insisted that Tigger shut it down ; however, in the winter, a depressed Tigger accidentally started the machine up, and it proved to be useful by plowing snow around Piglet's house before malfunctioning.

Piglet also befriended a young heffalump named Junior in two episodes of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Like most of the Pooh characters, Piglet was based on one of Christopher Robin Milne's stuffed animals.

Piglet is introduced in the text from Chapter III of Winnie-the-Pooh, although he is shown earlier in one of the illustrations for Chapter II ( helping to pull Pooh out of Rabbit's door ).

For that last feat, Piglet is the subject of a seven-verse " Respectful Pooh Song " that Pooh composes for him.

In the illustrations for The House at Pooh Corner, it appears that Piglet spells his own name " Piglit ", although it is rendered as " Piglet " in the actual text even when describing his signature.

Piglet does a " Noble Thing " and agrees to let Owl have the house, at which point Pooh asks Piglet to live with him and Piglet accepts.

Milne is most famous for his two Pooh books about a boy named Christopher Robin after his son, Christopher Robin Milne, and various characters inspired by his son's stuffed animals, most notably the bear named Winnie-the-Pooh.

E. H. Shepard drew on the landscapes of Ashdown Forest as inspiration for many of the illustrations he provided for the Pooh books.

It was in the mid-70s, reading Winnie the Pooh for BBC's Jackanory that he won over a whole new audience of young children.

Since 1990, he has been voiced by Jim Cummings ( who is also the voice of Pooh ), with the exception of Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin ( 1997 ), A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving ( 1998 ), and Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You ( 1999 ), in which Winchell reprised the role of Tigger.

Though often a supporting character, Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore focuses on him.

Their closeness begins at the end of Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore and continues in later works such as The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving and the Winnie the Pooh film.

Eeyore also wrote the awkwardly-rhymed poem called " POEM ", which appeared on the " rissolution ", making him the only character in the Winnie-the-Pooh books other than Pooh himself who attempts to write poetry.

John Fiedler provided the voice for Piglet from 1968 until his death on June 25, 2005, except in Welcome to Pooh Corner where Phil Baron voiced him.

After his death, Ray Erlenborn briefly voiced him in Winnie the Pooh Discovers the Seasons.

Pooh and Christopher Robin say a long, private farewell, in which Pooh promises never to forget him.

He would maintain the role until Jim Cummings replaced him in 1988 for The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and also took over most of Holloway's other voice roles, including Kaa in Jungle Cubs and The Jungle Book 2.

The show Animaniacs paid tribute to him by having Cummings ( in his Pooh voice ) narrate episodes like " Nighty Night Toon " and " The Warners and the Beanstalk ".
