He flourished at the Academy, winning the Hacker Portrait prize and the Silver Award, and the Rome Scholarship in Engraving, a two year scholarship to the British School at Rome in 1959.
After the sack of Rome, he went to Venice where he wrote his novel Portrait of Lozana: The Lusty Andalusian Woman ( El retrato de la Loçana Andaluza, 1528 ), that continues on the lines of the dialogued novel as Celestina.
He was again at Rome from 1862 to 1866, and there gave his fancy and his taste for violent colour free play in his Portrait of Mme Böcklin, and in An Anchorite in the Wilderness ( 1863 ), a Roman Tavern, and Villa on the Seashore ( 1864 ).
The Portrait of Lozana: The Lusty Andalusian Woman ( original title in Spanish: Retrato de la Loçana andaluza ) is a book written in Venice by the Spanish editor of the Renaissance, Francisco Delicado, in 1528, after he escaped from Rome due to the anti-Spanish sentiment that uprose after the sack of Rome a year earlier.
Baseman ’ s work is featured in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D. C. and the Museum of Modern Art in Rome.

Ferruccio Busoni
Ferruccio ( Dante Michelangelo Benvenuto ) Busoni ( April 1, 1866 – July 27, 1924 ) was an Italian composer, pianist, editor, writer, piano and composition teacher, and conductor.
Ferruccio Busoni was born in Empoli in Tuscany in Italy, the only child of two professional musicians.
He is commemorated by a plaque at the site of his last residence in Berlin-Schöneberg, Viktoria-Luise-Platz 11, and by the Ferruccio Busoni International Competition.
