Shashi Kapoor (), born Balbir Raj Prithviraj Kapoor on 18 March 1938 in Calcutta ( now Kolkata ), is an award-winning Indian film actor and film producer.

He is the younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, the son of Prithviraj Kapoor, the widower of Jennifer Kendal, and the father of Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor.

Right from the age of four, Shashi had started acting in his plays directed and produced by his dad Prithviraj Kapoor, while travelling with Prithvi Theatres.

As of August 2012, her upcoming films include Reema Kagti's suspense thriller Talaash co-starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor and Sachin Kundalkar's Aiyyaa opposite Prithviraj.

Raj Kapoor was born in Peshawar, British India ( present day Pakistan ) to Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni ( Rama ) Devi Kapoor ( née Mehra ).

In 1971 he launched his eldest son Randhir Kapoor in Randhir's acting and directorial debut Kal Aaj Aur Kal which also starred Raj's father Prithviraj Kapoor as well as Randhir's would-be-wife Babita.

She is the granddaughter of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor, great-granddaughter of actor Prithviraj Kapoor, grand-niece of actors Shashi Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, sister of actress Kareena Kapoor, niece of actors Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, and first-cousin of actor Ranbir Kapoor.

Prithviraj Raso, an epic poem written by Chand Bardai ( 1149 – c. 1200 ), is considered as one of the first works in the history of Hindi literature.

Prithviraj could speak English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati and Hindko.

Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer decided to make Prithviraj ’ s dream a reality by buying the land, and setting up the ' Shri Prithviraj Kapoor Memorial Trust & Research Foundation ' in his memory with the intention of building a space to promote Hindi theatre and the performing arts.

Sikandar or Sikander ( Hindi: स ि कन ् दर, Urdu: س ِ کندر ) is a 1941 Bollywood film directed by Sohrab Modi and starring Prithviraj Kapoor as Alexander the Great.

Prithviraj was born on November 3, 1901 at Samundri near the town of Lyallpur Punjab ( currently Faisalabad, Pakistan ), then under British colonial rule.

Prithviraj-Navya Nair Jodi was very popular in the year 2002-2003. Prithviraj and Navya came together for the first time in ' Nandanam ' ( 2002 ), a movie that was applauded by both the critics and fans.

The Battles of Tarain, also known as the Battles of Taraori, were fought in 1191 and 1192 near the town of Tarain ( Taraori ), near Thanesar in present-day Haryana, approximately 150 kilometres north of Delhi, India, between the Muslim Ghurid army led by Sultan Shahabuddin Muhammad Ghauri and the Hindu Rajput army led by Prithviraj Chauhan.

According to Ramavallabha Somani in his book Prithviraj Chauhan and His Times, Simhabala Johiya ruled Marot from 1160 – 1175, and after the defeat of Prithviraj Chauhan, Marot was captured by the Turks and the Johiyas were expelled from it.

Chand Bardai was a court poet of Prithviraj Chauhan, the famous ruler of Delhi and Ajmer during the invasion of Muhammad of Ghor.

King Jaichand of Kannauj held a swayamvara for his daughter Sanyogita, who was in love with Prithviraj Chauhan, the enemy of her father.

Sanyogita during the swayamvara went and garlanded the statue ; Prithviraj, who was hiding nearby, took Sanyogita on his steed and eloped with her.

An exhibition displaying important artifacts, documents and articles of historical importance was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Prithviraj Chavan in the Central Court Hall on 15 August 2012.

The construction of Qutb Minar was intended as a Victory Tower, to celebrate the victory of Mohammed Ghori over Rajput king, Prithviraj Chauhan, in 1192 AD, by his then viceroy, Qutb-ud-din Aibak, who later became the first Sultan of Delhi of Mamluk dynasty.

Ghori himself was captured after his remaining army fled but was subsequently set free by Prithviraj Chauhan.

Khande Rao, the able general of Prithviraj, was killed.

Subsequently, In Ghori's court, Prithviraj was ordered to demonstrate his archery skills, which he was known for.

Prithviraj, having been blinded, was assited by a former servant of his, who whispered ghori's location in the court room.

It remained a strategic place for Chauhan Empire until Prithviraj was defeated in the Second Battle of Tarain by the invading Ghurid ruler Shahabuddin Muhammad Ghori.

Baseshwarnath was posted at Peshawar, and so Prithviraj received his higher education at the Edwardes College, Peshawar, Pakistan and joined a one year program in Law to become a Lawyer.

Shankar later recollected that their vibes were right from the very beginning i. e. right from their first meeting itself they developed liking for each other ( rather than any feelings of rivalry which could have been natural since both were visiting Mr Bhatt for similar reason ) and it was he who then and there assured Jaikishan of the job of a Harmonium player at Prithvi theaters ( without asking Prithviraj Kapoor, fondly referred to as ' Papaji ').

Prithvi Theatres was founded in 1944, by Prithviraj Kapoor, as a travelling troupe with 150 members, which staged productions across India.

Prithviraj Kapoor ’ s dream was to have a permanent place for his theatre company.

In 2006, its annual festival celebrated the birth centenary of Prithviraj Kapoor, and was titled, " Kala Desh ki Sewa mein " ( Art in service of the Nation ).

Her third film was Swapnakkoodu, a romantic comedy alongside Prithviraj, Kunchako Boban, Jayasurya, and Bhavana under director Kamal.

Prithviraj Chauhan was proclaimed the heir of Tomar Kingdom in AD 1170 and his rule was 22Y-2M-16D.

The theatre is named after Prithviraj Kapoor who first founded ' Prithvi Theatres ', a travelling theatre company in 1944.

Prithviraj Kapoor's youngest son Shashi Kapoor, who had trained as an actor in the Prithvi Theatres, married Jennifer Kendal, daughter of Laura and Geoffrey Kendal, and the leading actress of their theatre company, Shakespearana.
