The archaeological record indicates that it was not unusual for ancient Pueblo peoples to adapt to climatic change by changing residences and locations.

During this time, generally classed as Pueblo II Era, the climate was relatively warm and rainfall mostly adequate.

Production of gold and silver was suspended in 1999, including at what was, in 1980, the Western Hemisphere's largest gold mine, at Pueblo Viejo.

A small pallasite was found in a pottery jar in an old burial found at Pojoaque Pueblo, New Mexico.

This has discouraged tourism to the town, and prevented the town from becoming a “ Pueblo Mágico .” Plans to rescue the river include reforestation around the river ’ s source, improving drainage systems in Malinalco and other communities, eliminating liquid discharges into the river and better solid waste management in the municipality.

Sponsored by Representative Les Aspin, the bill added the fourth paragraph to Title 10 § 1128 and authorized the POW Medal for those captured “ by foreign armed forces that are hostile to the United States, under circumstances which the Secretary concerned finds to have been comparable to those under which persons have generally been held captive by enemy armed forces during periods of armed conflict .” This amendment was the result of congressional recognition of multiple groups of individuals who were not originally authorized to receive the medal after Department of Defense review, such as the < i > USS Pueblo </ i > crew detained in North Korea in 1968, the US Navy and US Army Air Force crews interned in neutral Russia during World War II, the US Army Air Force crews interned in neutral Switzerland during World War II, US Marine Corps Col. William R. Higgins who was kidnapped in 1988 and executed by Hezbollah-affiliated terrorists, and the U. S. Marines from the U. S. Embassy in Teheran, Iran who were held hostage by terrorists from 1979 – 1981 in the Iran Hostage Crisis.

As expressed by the House Committee on Armed Services in report 101-121, the original intent of the POW Medal statute was to allow the award in incidents such as the USS Pueblo capture, but that due to the wording of the statute the detainees simply did not “ meet the literal requirements of the law .” Admiral J. M.

Pueblo and the military personnel who were held captive in Iran during the seizure of the United States Embassy in Teheran .” Cranston stated explicitly that the amendment was intended to “ include eligible for the medal those individuals who were held captive in neutral or allied countries in situations similar to those of prisoner-of-war conditions during armed conflict .”

This clarification is intended to cover the individuals taken prisoner as a result of the USS Pueblo seizure, as well as any similar occurrence that the Service Secretary concerned deems comparable to the circumstances under which persons have generally been held captive by enemy armed forces during a war or conflict .” This amendment to the POW Medal statute now appears at 10 USC § 1128 ( a )( 4 ).

In April 1541, while traveling on the plains east of the Pueblo region, Francisco Coronado referred to the people “ dog nomads .” He wrote:

As stated by Matthew Martinez of Po ’ pay ’ s home Pueblo, Ohkay Owingeh, “ it took a unique individual to orchestrate the revolt across two dozen communities who spoke six different languages and were sprawled over a distance of nearly 400 miles .” What little we know of Po ’ pay the man is distorted through the lenses of the Spanish chroniclers and their Indian informants, most of whom were opposed to Po ’ Pay.

Tribes were on the verge of losing their cultural identify when the Pueblo revolt brought everything back on track for our people .” It is one of two statues presented by New Mexico to the National Statuary Hall Collection.

According to Pueblo Council members the local name has always been " Kewa ".

Ancient Pueblo peoples or Ancestral Pueblo peoples were an ancient Native American culture centered on the present-day Four Corners area of the United States, comprising southern Utah, northern Arizona, northwest New Mexico, and southern Colorado.
