A third leading disciple of Salanter, Rabbi Naftali Amsterdam, became the chief rabbi of Helsinki.

He entered the Volozhin Yeshiva in 1884 at the age of 18, where he became close to the rosh yeshiva, Rabbi Naftali Zvi Yehuda Berlin ( the Netziv ).

His great-great-grandfather was Rabbi Naftali Zvi Yehuda Berlin ( The Netziv ).

In April 1810, Rebbe Nachman called two of his closest disciples, Rabbi Aharon of Breslov and Rabbi Naftali of Nemirov, to act as witnesses for an unprecedented vow:

In 2005, the Bobover Rebbe, Rabbi Naftali Zvi Halberstam died, and Bobov split between his son-in-law, Rabbi Mordechai Dovid Unger, and the former's brother, Rabbi Ben Zion Aryeh Leibish Halberstam.

He was a scholar of Talmud as well as the son of an important Orthodox rabbi, Rabbi Naftali Zvi Yehuda Berlin, known as the Netziv, who was the head of the famous Volozhin Yeshiva in Lithuania.

The yeshiva is currently headed by Rabbi Naftali Jaeger who serves as the Rosh Yeshiva and Rabbi Avrohom Halpern as the Menahel.

With Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam's passing, his older son Rabbi Naftali Zvi Halberstam was crowned as his successor and his younger son Rabbi Ben Zion Aryeh Leibish Halberstam was appointed as Rav Hatzuir ( Junior Ruv ).

Following the death of Grand Rabbi Naftali Zvi Halberstam, a dispute arose.

He was born in 1925 in Berlin, where his father, Rabbi Hartwig Naftali Carlebach ( 1889 – 1967 ), was an Orthodox rabbi.

David Zvi Hoffman suggests that Mishnah Rishonah actually refers to texts from earlier Sages upon which Rabbi based his Mishnah.

In later years, when Kook's name became associated with the Mizrachi, part of the Religious Zionist Movement, Hutner, an eventual member of the non-Zionist Haredi Agudath Israel of America's Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah (" Council of Torah Sages "), sought to downplay his former association with Kook, even though he maintained cordial relations with Kook's son and heir Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook and other prominent students such as Rabbi Moshe-Zvi Neria.

Her dissertation discussed the dual role of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Chajes as both a traditionalist and maskil (" follower of the enlightenment ").

There have been rabbinical attempts to renew Semicha and re-establish a Sanhedrin by Rabbi Jacob Berab in 1538, Rabbi Yisroel Shklover in 1830, Rabbi Aharon Mendel haCohen in 1901, Rabbi Zvi Kovsker in 1940 and Rabbi Yehuda Leib Maimon in 1949.

He attended the Hasharat Zvi school in Halberstadt, and, from age seventeen, the Yeshiva of Rabbi Jacob Ettlinger in Altona ; Chacham Isaac Bernays was one of his teachers and his model as a preacher.

Its first appearance is the manuscript of the Rosh Hashana liturgy by the Talmudic sage Rav ( Rabbi Abba Arikha, died 247 ), who lived in Babylonia ( Persia ).

Rabbi Abraham Ben Meir Ibn Ezra ( Hebrew: אברהם אבן עזרא or ראב " ע, Arabic ابن عزرا ; also known as Abenezra ) ( 1089 — 1164 ) was born at Tudela, Navarre Tudela, Navarre ( now in Spain ) in 1089, and died c. 1167, apparently in Calahorra.

In Israel, on the eve of Lag BaOmer, bonfires are lit on to commemorate the Mishnaic sage Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai who according to tradition died on Lag BaOmer.

After his first wife died at a young age, he married the daughter of Rabbi Yitzchak Sabba.

When Jacob Berab died, Karo was regarded as his successor, and together with Rabbi Moshe of Trani he headed the Rabbinical Court of Safed.

" This addition was subsequently endorsed by the Rabbi of Mainz, Jacob ben Moses Moelin, " the Maharil " ( died 1427 ).

Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn died in 1950.

Schneerson died at the Beth Israel Medical Center on June 12, 1994 ( 3 Tammuz 5754 ) and was buried at the Ohel next to his teacher and father-in-law, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, at Montefiore Cemetery in Queens, New York, in 1994.

His mother Devorah Leah died just three years later, and her father Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi raised him as his own son.

Rabbi Chaim Schneur Zalman ( 1814 – 1880 ) was Rebbe in Lyady after his father, the Tzemach Tzedek died.

Rabbi Yaakov, although leaving descendants, died at quite a young age.

When Schneur Zalman died, many of his followers flocked to one of his top students, Rabbi Aharon HaLevi of Strashelye.

When Rabbi Menachem Mendel died ( in 1788 ), Rabbi Schneur Zalman was recognized as leader of the Chassidim in Lithuania.

After several months she died, and he then married the Rebetzin Rivkah, a granddaughter of Rabbi Dovber Schneuri, the Mitteler Rebbe.

After Rabbi Chanokh Heynekh died in 1870, Rabbi Yehudah Aryeh Leib ( who became known posthumously as the Sfas Emes ) acceded to the request of the Hasidim to become their next rebbe.
