* Nick and Nora were the inspirations for two comic book couples: the adoptive parents of Mary Marvel, Nick and Nora Bromfield, as well as the relationship between Ralph Dibny ( DC Comics ' Elongated Man ) and his wife Sue Dibny.

In Blue Beetle # 16, Traci 13 mentioned that she had been taken in by Ralph and Sue after her mother died.

In Batman and the Outsiders # 5, it is revealed ( after appearing unknown in the previous two issues ) that Ralph and Sue have gained or discovered the ability to possess human bodies, like the ability of Boston Brand, AKA Deadman.

In Blackest Night # 0, Ralph and Sue Dibny's graves are shown during Black Hand's chant.

In the final battle, the Flash looks around to see if Ralph and Sue were among those resurrected by the White Entity only to be told by Green Lantern they were not coming back.

The meeting ends badly ; the heroes interrupt the ceremony partway through, but in the resulting fracas, the wicker replica of Sue looks up at Ralph and calls his name.

In Week Twenty-Seven of 52, Ralph Dibny, on a quest to restore his wife Sue to life and guided by the helmet of Doctor Fate, approaches the Spectre and promises to fulfill any bargain that the Spectre demands in order to restore his wife to life.

Fate, he attempts to convince Dibny that he can resurrect his dead wife, Sue, and teaches him magic skills, but is tricked by Ralph, who has known for some time that he is not Dr Fate and Neron is responsible for the plot.

Unbeknownst to even Sue's husband Ralph, Sue had been pregnant.

In Week Twenty-Seven of 52, Ralph Dibny approaches the Spectre as part of his quest to restore his wife Sue to life, promising to fulfil any bargain demanded of him in order to accomplish this.

Most of the Super Buddies recruited by Maxwell Lord and his robot sidekick L-Ron were former members of Justice League International when Giffen, DeMatteis, and Maguire worked on the series: Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Fire, Ralph Dibny ( The Elongated Man ) and his wife Sue, and Captain Atom.
