Ethical egoists such as Rand who readily acknowledge the ( conditional ) value of others to an individual, and who readily endorse empathy for others, have argued the exact reverse from Rachels, that it is altruism which discriminates: " If the sensation of eating a cake is a value, then why is it an immoral indulgence in your stomach, but a moral goal for you to achieve in the stomach of others?

Lanfear arrives and allows Rand to live and then helps him by limiting Asmodean's ability to channel the One Power: Asmodean will be forced to teach Rand how to use the One Power ( something only a male Forsaken can do ) because the Shadow will now believe him to be a traitor.

Rand al ' Thor, having been declared the Dragon Reborn by Moiraine Damodred at the ends of the second book, The Great Hunt, secretly leaves the Shienaran camp in the Mountains of Mist to go to Tear to prove himself the Dragon Reborn.

The N3 then heads through Germiston ( where the M2 provides access to the Johannesburg Central Business District ) before heading to Bedfordview, where the N12 leaves the N3 at the Gilooly's Interchange and provides access to the East Rand.

They have pledged to teach him " laughter and tears ", though in different ways, as Rand has conditioned himself not to feel emotion by reciting the names of all the women who have died directly because of his actions over and over to himself, forcing himself to become harder and harder, or as he puts it, " harder than steel ".

Book 3, The Dragon Reborn, was in fact told almost exclusively from the points-of-view of Mat Cauthon, Perrin Aybara, and Egwene al ' Vere, despite the fact that it is undoubtedly about Rand ( all three parties eventually follow him to Tear and are present when he pulls the sword Callandor from the Stone and proclaims himself the Dragon Reborn ), and the following books have continued in following the adventures of other characters besides Rand, to such a degree at times that in the tenth book, Crossroads of Twilight, Rand only appears in two chapters and the epilogue.

However, after Rand comes to terms with Lews Therin and himself, it seems that these problems disappear.

Upon this realization Rand comes to terms with himself, and finally laughs, dispersing the unnatural clouds that have been in the sky throughout the book, shining a tiny glimmer of hope on his fate at Tarmon Gai ' don.

It is strongly implied that he will never hear Lews Therin voice again, as he accepts him as part of himself, and two are completely united-this may be the fulfillment of Min's vision that saw Rand merging with another man.

By the end of The Gathering Storm, Rand seems to come to terms with the voice of Lews Therin, and it is strongly hinted that the voice was simply a result of subconscious rejection of his destiny and inability to come to peace with himself.

Many believed her to be dead at the time Rand declared himself to be the Dragon Reborn.

She is the leader of the Wise Ones in Rhuidean after Rand al ' Thor had declared himself to be the Car ' a ' carn.

The only episode that Rand was deliberately written out of was " Dagger of the Mind ", which Whitney said was a creative decision made because the episode's storyline put the mutual and yet repressed attraction between Kirk and Rand too much out in the open.
