Statues of legendary Green Lantern Corps members, including Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Arisia, and Ch ' p, line the hall where the Guardians formerly met.

Jordan, with the help of John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and Kilowog, reimprisoned Parallax.

This new Corps, under the training of Kilowog, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, and other veterans, was primarily composed of new recruits.

Command falls to Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and Salaak, a senior Lantern holding the rank of Clarissi.

However, Hal, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Killowog have a measure of resistance, due to their previous experience with fear.

While the primary Lanterns of Sector 2814 are Hal Jordan and John Stewart, Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner call Earth home, but are stationed on Oa, first as teachers, and then specially assigned to cases that are too difficult for the average lantern.

With the yellow impurity returned to the green light, all of the Green Lanterns even the experienced wielders, with the apparent exception of Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Kilowog and Guy Gardner, are placed under Krona's control, the Alpha Lanterns are affected by the yellow impurity which made them enter into some kind of hibernation.

Additionally, John Stewart -- an African American Green Lantern who had previously worked with the League in the comics -- was used rather than one of the better-known modern-era Green Lanterns: Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner ( even though Rayner had appeared as Green Lantern in the Superman animated series ).

However, despite his attempts to stop them by using Mogo against them, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner are able to escape Krona and fight back by using the rings of the other Corps — Hal wielding a Sinestro and an Orange ring, Guy a Red and a Star Sapphire, Kyle a Blue, and John an Indigo — to escape Parallax's influence long enough to kill Mogo and extract Parallax from the Power Battery.

Rayner also entered a romantic relationship with Jade and formed friendships with the Golden Age Green Lantern ( Jade's father, Alan Scott ), Green Arrow ( Connor Hawke ), Arsenal ( Roy Harper ), Warrior ( Guy Gardner ), and John Stewart ( who at the time was a former Green Lantern ).

Continuing his duties as a Green Lantern Honor Guard member, Rayner moved to Oa, running a new version of the Warriors Bar with Guy Gardner, and continuing his relationship with Soranik Natu, secretly breaking one of the ten new laws in the book of Oa unveiled by the Guardians: No relationships between Green Lanterns.

A new memorial was erected for the memories of the city's history which includes a green lantern, lighted by Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner.

Together, Kyle Rayner and fellow Green Lanterns John Stewart, Guy Gardner, a resurrected Kilowog, and Ganthet imprisoned the parasite back in the Central Power Battery on Oa.

Green Lanterns Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner planned to breach Vegan space in order to retrieve recruit Soranik Natu.

Since John Stewart is the Green Lantern featured in both stories, it is made clear that Sinestro has a grudge against the Green Lantern Corps in general, as opposed to a specific vendetta against Rayner.

The Central Power Battery is later recharged and the Guardians resurrected shortly thereafter by Kyle Rayner after he spends some time as the near-omnipotent " Ion ".

After Thomas Kalmaku used Jordan's ring to rebuild Oa, Kyle Rayner used his power as Ion to resurrect the Guardians.

When Kyle Rayner accidentally travelled through time to ten years in the past and met a young Hal Jordan, the Guardians were able to send Rayner back to his own time by using the power from the Central Battery after Jordan and Rayner defeated Sinestro together.

Shortly thereafter, Kyle Rayner, having imbued with the vast power of Ion after his battle with Oblivion and Alexander Nero funneled the remaining energy left in the sun that was once the immortal Guardians back into the Central Power Battery.

The Guardians remain staunchly uninvolved in what they see as a conflict that could destabilize many sectors, but that has not stopped Kyle Rayner and Kilowog from helping refugees.

The Guardians have since been restored when Kyle Rayner, as Ion, recharged the Central Power Battery.

Many of the Guardians revived by Kyle Rayner seemed to have disappeared as only a handful now appear in the current Green Lantern issues, while dozens were revived by Kyle Rayner.

With Kyle Rayner having rebelled against the Guardians to join the ' New Guardians ' a makeshift team consisting of representatives from all seven Corps, Hal Jordan's recent expulsion, and based on the ' recommendations ' of the now-emotionless Ganthet, the Guardians are preparing to create the ' Third Army ' to replace the Green Lantern Corps, which involves them recovering the mysterious ' First Lantern ' for an undefined role, prompting Sinestro, who learned about this prophecy after touching the Book of the Black, to enlist Hal's aid in stopping this scheme.

In Green Lantern ( v. 3 ) # 100 the Guardians display the power of time travel as they send a time-lost Kyle Rayner back to his present timeline.

In Green Lantern # 150 Kyle Rayner ( as Ion ) relights the Central Power Battery on Oa and restores the dead Guardians to life.

Kyle Rayner encountered the Manhunters not long after Hal Jordan's destruction of the Guardians and the Central Power Battery on Oa.

After Hal Jordan, grief-stricken over the destruction of his home town of Coast City, went on a mad rampage killing various members of the Green Lantern Corps and the Guardians of the Universe, Rayner was found by the last surviving Guardian of the Universe, Ganthet.

Rather than sacrifice his humanity, Rayner abandoned omnipotence, bleeding off the vast power, recharging the Central Power Battery on the Guardians ' home planet and headquarters, Oa, and helping to create a new group of Guardians in the process.

Subsequent to this, Rayner is given special status amongst the Guardians, who consider him the " Torch-Bearer ", the Green Lantern who carried the legacy through the Corps ' darkest period.

Jordan and Rayner then discover that the Guardians had placed Rayner through these events as a test of whether he could handle his power, in anticipation of their granting him an honored position among Green Lanterns as their Torchbearer, now that he harbors the ability to revive the Corps should it ever be destroyed again.

In the History of the DC Universe backup feature, when Donna and the artificial intelligence in charge of Harbinger's historical records finished her task of reviewing the DC Universe's history, both the artificial intelligence and one of the new Monitors revealed to her that the current timeline has diverged from its rightful path, in which Donna herself, instead of Jade, should have sacrificed herself for Kyle Rayner.
