Andrew R. Cobb designed several campus buildings including: Raynor Hall Residence, 1916 ; Horton House, designed by Cobb in the Georgian style, and built by James Reid of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia was opened in 1915 as Horton Academy.

The University of Western Australia features seven main subject libraries on campus, including the architecturally recognised Reid Library building, the largest library on campus with four publicly accessible levels.

The architectural and administrative centerpiece of the Manhattanville campus, Reid Hall ( 1864 ), is named after Whitelaw Reid, owner of the New York Tribune.

The Reid campus is located on Constitution Avenue in the suburb of Reid in the centre of Canberra.

There are 25 buildings on campus, including Reid Hall ( formerly the estate of Chicago meat entrepreneur J. Ogden Armour ), Corbin Academic Center, Hutchinson Commons ( the dining hall ), four dormitories and several faculty housing buildings.

In 1865 Robert Towns built a boiling down works-at the time, there was no facilities for shipping cattle or sheep, so in 1865 Andrew Ball and Mark Reid left Woodstock Station to find a harbour around the Cleveland Bay shores and the Town and port of Townsville was established at the mouth of Ross Creek.

Other stories on the origin of the name include a story that Colton was lighting a Searchlight brand match when he discovered the gold ore. Reid dismisses this story, saying that the Searchlight matches were not available in 1898.

Themed housing options include La Casa Hispanica, which " supports the endeavors of students actively engaged in organizing programs concerned with the cultures and civilizations of the Spanish-speaking world ," the Ira de A. Reid House, which seeks students active in the Black Students ' League or members of the African Diaspora interested in the culture and politics of Africans, Cadbury house, which provides a substance-free and quiet living environment, and Yarnall, which has no permanent theme.

In May 2012, a charity concert was held at his former home commemorating his birthday, with Minott's children ( who include daughter Tamar, aka Pashon ) joined by Bounty Killer, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Junior Reid, Ken Boothe and John Holt.
