Ironically, one of the few songs on the second album to feature harmony vocals, " Back on the Street Again " was a duet by Linda Ronstadt and songwriter Steve Gillette ( though Linda's voice was clearly on top ); Gillette remembers from the session: " here was a scuffle and some noise just outside the door.

The opening showcased a gala concert of Riddle's works, with Ronstadt as a featured guest performer.

He later performed the single for Bill Graham's In Concert Against AIDS, opening for Grateful Dead, Linda Ronstadt and Huey Lewis and the News.

Of the previously unreleased songs, " Down to the Wire " features the New Orleans pianist Dr. John with Buffalo Springfield on an item from their shelved Stampede album ; " Love Is a Rose " was a minor hit for Linda Ronstadt in 1975 ; " Winterlong " received a cover by Pixies on the Neil Young tribute album from 1989, The Bridge ; and " Campaigner " is a Young song critical of Richard Nixon.

A second and more contemporary collaboration with Harris and Ronstadt, Trio II ( 1999 ), was released and its cover of Neil Young's " After the Gold Rush " won a Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.

Plans for a brief tour with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt to promote their 1987 collaboration Trio fell through, due to the three artists ' conflicting schedules, as well as Parton's prior commitment to her 1987-88 ABC TV series.

Besides his studio work, Torrence became a graphic artist starting his own company, Kittyhawk Graphics, and designing and creating album covers and logos for other musicians and recording artists, including Harry Nilsson, Steve Martin, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dennis Wilson, Bruce Johnston, The Beach Boys, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Linda Ronstadt, Canned Heat, The Ventures and many others.

Ronstadt herself covered " Blue Bayou " in 1977, her version reaching number 3 on the Billboard charts and remaining in the charts for 24 weeks.

In 1982, Linda Ronstadt recorded " The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress " and " Easy for You to Say " on her album Get Closer.

Using the Ronstadt prototype, rock / pop stars singing traditional pop music for a large commercial market has become accepted and bankable.

The greatest commercial success for country rock came in the 1970s, with the Doobie Brothers mixing in elements of R & B, Emmylou Harris ( a former backing singer for Parsons ) becoming the " Queen of country-rock " and Linda Ronstadt creating a highly successful pop-oriented brand of the genre.

The original Eagles would play together only once as a live unit backing Ronstadt for a July concert at Disneyland, but all four appeared on her eponymous 1971 album.

In the early 1980s, Ronstadt was criticized by some ( mainly rock critics ) for playing two concerts, as a replacement for Frank Sinatra, in South Africa under apartheid, at a time when Ray Charles, The Beach Boys, Tina Turner, Sinatra, Shirley Bassey and Cher were also performing there.

On March 31, 2009, in testimony that the LA Times viewed as " remarkable ", Ronstadt spoke to the United States Congress ' House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment & Related Agencies, attempting to convince lawmakers to budget $ 200 million in the 2010 fiscal year for the National Endowment of the Arts.

Ronstadt has also been honored for her contribution to the American arts.

In May 2009, Ronstadt received an honorary doctorate of music degree from the Berklee College of Music for her achievements and influence in music, and her contributions to American and international culture.

In 2004, Ronstadt wrote the Foreword Introduction to the book titled The NPR Curious Listener's Guide To American Folk Music, and in 2005 she wrote the Introduction to the book titled Classic Ferrington Guitars, about guitar-maker and luthier Danny Ferrington and his custom guitars that he created for Ronstadt and other musicians such as Elvis Costello, Ry Cooder, and Kurt Cobain.

Like its predecessor, the album had two singles: " Up To My Neck In High Muddy Water " b / w " Carnival Bear " ( released under the name Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys ) which stalled at No. 93 on the Hot 100 ; and " Some of Shelly's Blues " b / w " Hobo " ( released under the name Stone Poneys, Featuring Linda Ronstadt ) which, like the album, did not chart.

Aside from the title track, the four Stone Poneys tracks were remixed tracks from the third Stone Poneys ' album, all featuring Ronstadt solo: " Hobo ," " Up To My Neck In High Muddy Water ," " Some Of Shelly's Blues ," and " Stoney End.

The 2007 festival featured musicians such as Linda Ronstadt, who was the Friday night headliner, in addition to other well known musicians such as the Allman Brothers Band, Emmylou Harris, Alejandro Escovedo, Cheryl Wheeler, Hazel Dickens and Ralph Stanley.

The greatest commercial success for country rock came in the 1970s, with artist including the Doobie Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles ( made up of members of the Burritos, Poco and Stone Canyon Band ), who emerged as one of the most successful rock acts of all time, producing albums that included Hotel California ( 1976 ).

Richard and his band opened for some of the most famous rock groups in the world, such as Little Feat, Kansas, Taj Mahal, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Bob Seger, Chicago, The Beach Boys, REO Speedwagon, Loggins and Messina, The Kinks, Average White Band, Pablo Cruise, and Aerosmith, to name a few.

They are considered to be one of the pioneers of the burgeoning southern California folk rock, country rock and so-called progressive bluegrass genres, and are known to have directly or indirectly influenced artists such as The Eagles, The Byrds, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dan Fogelberg, Linda Ronstadt, Iain Matthews, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Elton John, Fairport Convention, The New Grass Revival, J. D. Crowe and the New South, Ricky Skaggs, The Seldom Scene, The Dixie Bee-Liners, and Joe Bethancourt.

A variety of Nashville and Hollywood stars were scheduled to appear, including Karen Black, Tom T. Hall, Emmylou Harris, The Hues Corporation, Captain Kangaroo, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., Ronnie Milsap, Anne Murray, Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt, KC & The Sunshine Band, and Anson Williams.

At first, the band was under-rehearsed and played poorly, but improved markedly with steady gigging and received rapturous responses at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas and at a filmed concert at Liberty Hall in Houston ( with Neil Young and Linda Ronstadt sitting in ) and Max's Kansas City in New York City.

Many episodes featured people most British viewers had barely heard of at the time, such as Linda Ronstadt ; some featured veteran performers like Ethel Merman and Rita Moreno ; some featured well-known pop singers, including Elton John, Diana Ross, and Leo Sayer.

Ronstadt is a major supporter and admirer of sustainable agriculture pioneer Wes Jackson, saying in 2000 that " the work he's doing right now is the most important work there is in the ( United States )", and dedicating the rock anthem " Desperado " to him at an August 2007 concert in Kansas City, Kansas.

On August 17, 2008, Ronstadt received a tribute by various artists including BeBe Winans and Wynonna Judd, when she was honored with the Trailblazer Award, presented to her by Plácido Domingo at the 2008 ALMA Awards, a ceremony later televised in the U. S. on ABC.

In 1979, an out-of-state columnist, Mike Royko, at the Chicago Sun-Times, picked up on the nickname from Brown's girlfriend at the time, Linda Ronstadt, who was quoted in a 1978 Rolling Stone magazine interview humorously calling him " Moonbeam ".< ref >

In 1980, Routledge played Ruth in the Joseph Papp production of The Pirates of Penzance co-starring American actor Kevin Kline and pop vocalist Linda Ronstadt, at the Delacorte Theatre in New York City's Central Park, one of the series of Shakespeare in the Park summer events.

In the spring of 1977 Larson was at Ronstadt's Malibu home when neighbor Neil Young phoned to ask Ronstadt if she could recommend a female vocal accompanist, and Ronstadt suggested Larson, becoming the fifth person that day to put Larson's name forward to Young.

The following week Ronstadt and Larson cut their vocals for Young's American Stars ' n Bars album at Young's La Honda ranch — the two women were billed on the album as the Saddlebags — and in November 1977 Young invited Larson to Nashville to sing on the sessions for his Comes a Time album, an assignment which led to Larson's being signed to Warner Brothers, an affiliate of Young's home label Reprise.

He teamed with American vocalist Linda Ronstadt and had a US Billboard Hot 100 hit which peaked at No. 2 in March, 1987 with " Somewhere Out There ", the theme from the animated feature film An American Tail.

Dropping out of college in 1963 at the age of 19, Curb formed first record company, Sidewalk Records ( a predecessor of Curb Records ) launched the careers of West Coast rock and roll artists such as the Stone Poneys ( featuring Linda Ronstadt ), The Arrows ( featuring Davie Allan ) and the Electric Flag ( featuring Mike Bloomfield and Buddy Miles ).

In 1986, Linda Ronstadt appeared with the Mariachi Vargas at the Tucson International Mariachi Conference where she sang publicly in Spanish for the first time.

Monk then has everyone assemble at the rally platform the next day, and explains that Jason Ronstadt was the intended target of the assassination all along.

Ronstadt and Taylor were in Nashville at the time for an appearance on Johnny Cash's television program, and the album's producer Elliot Mazer arranged for them to sing backup for Young in the studio.

But Joel has stated that, at the request of both Linda Ronstadt and Phoebe Snow ( both were recording in other studios in the same building at the time ), Joel agreed to put the song on the final mix.
