She came to prominence in the early 1950s with the novelty hit " Come On-a My House " written by William Saroyan and his cousin Ross Bagdasarian ( better known as David Seville, the father figure of Alvin and the Chipmunks ), which was followed by other pop numbers such as " Botch-a-Me " ( a cover version of the Italian song Ba-Ba-Baciami Piccina by Alberto Rabagliati ), " Mambo Italiano ", " Tenderly ", " Half as Much ", " Hey There " and " This Ole House ", although she had success as a jazz vocalist.

When James Ross died in 1862, his wife, Annie Ross, was forced to sell a portion of James Ross ’ larger land holdings to pay each of their daughters $ 10, 000.

During the Anglo-Scottish Wars, John Ross, 2nd Lord Ross of Halkhead, died when leading his forces against the English at the Battle of Flodden Field on September the 9th, 1513.

William, 14th Lord Ross, died unmarried, and Balnagowan then passed to Sir James Lockhard, 2nd Baronet of Carstairs.

The music video for the Diana Ross song " Missing You " pays tribute to Marvin Gaye, Florence Ballard, and Paul Williams, all former Motown artists who had died.

Leslie died while rehearsing for his last burlesque, Don Juan ( with lyrics by Adrian Ross ).

Ross survived until a year later when he died after a long illness and asthma attack, at Bath House in 1932.
