Super Audio CD ( SACD ) is a read-only optical disc for audio storage, introduced in 1999.

SACD is capable of encoding recorded audio in either stereophonic sound or surround sound.

The SACD sampling rate is 2. 8224 MHz and the resolution is one bit.

SACD, founded as Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques () on 7 March 1829, is a French collecting society, undertaking collective rights management for authors.

This particular disc is a multi-channel hybrid SACD.

However, in an SACD player, the album is played in high resolution audio with surround sound.

All releases of the album contain the same disc except for the limited jewel case version, which disc is yellow and white and the SACD version which is an all white gold disc with blue writing.

Direct-Stream Digital ( DSD ) is the trademark name used by Sony and Philips for their system of recreating audible signals which uses pulse-density modulation encoding, a technology to store audio signals on digital storage media that are used for the Super Audio CD ( SACD ).

SACD audio is stored in a format called Direct Stream Digital ( DSD ), which differs from the conventional PCM used by the compact disc or conventional computer audio systems.

The SACD format is capable of delivering a dynamic range of 120 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and an extended frequency response up to 100 kHz, although most currently available players list an upper limit of 80 – 90 kHz and 20 kHz is the upper limit of human hearing.

Because it has been extremely difficult to carry out DSP operations ( for example performing EQ, balance, panning and other changes in the digital domain ) in a 1-bit environment, and because of the prevalence of studio equipment such as Pro Tools, which is solely PCM-based, the vast majority of SACDs — especially rock and contemporary music which relies on multitrack techniques — are in fact mixed in PCM ( or mixed analog and recorded on PCM recorders ) and then converted to DSD for SACD mastering.

The " DSD-wide " signal is down-converted to regular DSD for SACD mastering.

( All SACD players employ an optional low-pass filter set at 50 kHz for compatibility and safety reasons, suitable for situations where amplifiers or loudspeakers cannot deliver an undistorted output if noise above 50 kHz is present in the signal.

DSF is a stereo-only, simplified form of DFF, the format used for SACD mastering and 5. 1-channel downloads.

The ISOMIKE label, which produces SACD ( Super Audio ) recordings, primarily of classical and jazz artists, is based in Utah and is produced by Ray Kimber.

The Festival is sponsored by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Unifrance, l ’ ARP ( French acronym for " Guild of French Directors and Producers "), and the SACD ( a French acronym for " Guild of Authors, Composers and Directors ").

In the standard CD height, the super jewel box is the conventional case for Super Audio CD ( SACD ); a taller form, midway between CD and DVD-Video size, is the conventional case for DVD-Audio, and as of mid-2006, the case format for all albums released by the Universal Music Group in Europe.

A limited edition release included two bonus tracks on a separate disc recorded in the early 1960s, and two years later, on September 16, 2003, this album was one of fifteen Dylan titles reissued and remastered for SACD hybrid playback.

The special edition of the album was also mixed by Lang in 5. 1 and was released as an SACD hybrid disc.

In 2004, the contents of the 2nd disc were remastered and released on SACD as Live on the BBC, on Audio Fidelity, with two bonus tracks ( studio versions of " Hush " and " River Deep Mountain High ").

Delta-sigma modulation is unrelated to the physical encoding of a CD, DVD, or SACD.

Researchers have disputed the claim that SACD offers sound quality significantly different from a standard CD.

The Super Audio CD ( SACD ) format was created by Sony and Philips, who were also the developers of the earlier standard audio CD format.

A DSD-CD however does not achieve the same sound resolution as SACD because the high-sample rate, low-resolution DSD sound has to be converted to 44. 1 kHz, 16-bit PCM in order to be compliant with the ' Red Book ' audio CD standard.

In addition to the standard version, Heads Up released the album in the Hybrid SACD format.

The film appeared in competition at several film festivals, including Venice ( 2001 ); Sarlat, Amiens and Strasbourg ; Namur, where it received the SACD prize ; and Thessaloniki, where it won the first prize, the Golden Alexander.

Titled " The One-Crash to Create -", the song is over twenty-two minutes long and was released on March 21 in four editions ; normal CD, HQCD, Hybrid SACD, and a set including all three and a DVD.

On March 27, 2007 audiophile label Mobile Fidelity reissued the album on SACD and high density vinyl.

At the same time, a hybrid SACD version was released, which includes high resolution stereo and 5. 1 mixes.

The biggest competition to DualDisc was the hybrid Super Audio CD ( SACD ), which was developed by Sony and Philips Electronics, the same companies that created the CD.

In January 2007, there were roughly the same number of titles available on SACD as on HDCD-encoded CDs.

The album was reissued again in the SACD format on January 30, 2001, with the same expanded track listing as on the 20-bit remaster.
