Brodie and Lutyens as members, submitted its report on June 13, 1912, it proposed a plan to include Paharganj and Sadar Bazar into the developing new imperial city, as they were only areas of Old Delhi, spilling into the planned New Delhi area.

Jamuna Distillery Limited ( 1995 ) is another private industry of Jamuna Group, the Distillery produces industrial alcohol, the Distillery is situated near Natore Sugar Mills Limited.

During the War of Liberation in 1971 battles were fought between Pak army and the freedom fighters at Mandartala ( Kaliganj ), Dulalmundia and Besaykhali ( Jhenaidah Sadar ) in which several members of the Pak army were killed and so were many freedom fighters.

Common names are Asna, Saj or Saaj, Indian-laurel, Matti, Taukkyan ( Burma ), Sadar, Matti or Marda ( India ), and casually " crocodile bark " due to the characteristic bark pattern.
