The largest salt pan in the park extends from the Ashford Mill Site to the Salt Creek Hills, covering some of the valley floor.

After traveling down the Salt River valley ( Star Valley ) about north the road turned almost due west near the present town of Auburn, Wyoming, and entered into the present state of Idaho along Stump Creek.
