The Coharie Intra-Tribal Council is housed in the old Eastern Carolina Indian School building, a school that served the Native Americans of Sampson, Harnett, Cumberland, Columbus, Person, and Hoke counties from 1942 until 1966.

These academic achievements were bolstered by the establishment of the School of Social Work, the formation of the School of Engineering, and the fall 1998 opening of the School of Allied Health Sciences, the School of Business received accreditation of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business ( AACSB ), a $ 13. 5 million expansion of the H. T. Sampson Library, which doubled the capacity of the original structure, was completed, and the $ 17. 2 million School of Liberal Arts building was occupied in 2001.

Born in Sampson County, North Carolina, Etheridge attended the Cleveland School and was a high school basketball standout.

A friend of theirs, Whiz Winters, who worked for their manager, Paul Sampson in his record shop, came up with the name " Shadows of Knight " to tie into the British Invasion in music of that time, and because all four of the band members attended Prospect High School in Mt.

Sampson High School in Cuba, which started in 1931, is also still open.
