Born as Maximine Julia Portas in 1905, Savitri Devi was the daughter of a Greek / Lombard Italian father and an English mother.

Formally adhering to Hinduism, she took the name Savitri Devi (" Sun-rays Goddess " in Sanskrit ).

After World War II, she travelled to Europe in late 1945 under the name Savitri Devi Mukherji as the wife of an Indian national using a British passport.

Savitri Devi became friends with Hans-Ulrich Rudel, and completed her manuscript of The Lightning and the Sun at his home in March 1956.

Savitri Devi took employment teaching in France during the 1960s, spending her summer holidays with friends at Berchtesgaden.

The Lightning and the Sun ( 1958 ) is a book by Savitri Devi Mukherji which outlines her philosophy of history along with her critique of the modern world.

In The Lightning and the Sun, Savitri Devi Mukherji elucidates her concept of " Men in Time ," " Men above Time ," and " Men against Time " using the lives of Genghis Khan, Akhnaton, and Adolf Hitler, respectively, as illustrations of the forces of " Lightning " ( destructive power ), " Sun " ( life-giving energy ), and " both Lightning and the Sun " ( destructive power harnessed for a life-affirming purpose ).

In January 1938, Mukherji met Savitri Devi who was deeply impressed with his knowledge.

Whereas the entry to GK-III was initially from Outer Ring Road for about 30 years, it has been closed of sometime in the last 10 years and the entry is now from what was called Savitri Cinema entrance after crossing GK Enclave-II on the side opposite former Savitri Complex.
