The existence of an unwritten constitution was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court in Reference re Secession of Quebec.

Schwitters was to come into contact with Herwarth Walden after exhibiting expressionist paintings at the Hanover Secession in February 1918.

On October 28, 1861 pro-secession elements of the General Assembly met in the town's Masonic Hall and ( reportedly ) passed an Ordinance of Secession, making Missouri a short lived independent republic.

The legality of the Neosho secession ( even under Confederate law ) has been questioned by many historians who: question whether a proper quorum of the General Assembly was present ; note that the General Assembly had previously granted the power over secession action to the Constitutional Convention ; and note that under Missouri state law an Ordinance of Secession required confirmation by a plebiscite of the state's voters ( which never occurred ).

Glenn served as the Commissioner from Georgia to the Missouri Secession Convention, publicly reading Georgia's Articles of Secession and trying to persuade Missouri politicians to vote to join Georgia in seceding from the Union.

Shortly afterwards, a session of exiled elements of the Missouri legislature convened in the southwest Missouri town of Neosho and claimed to have passed an Ordinance of Secession on October 30, with the Governor-in-Exile Jackson signing on October 31, 1861.

A Canadian law, the Clarity Act, and a court ruling, Reference re Secession of Quebec, set forth the conditions for negotiations to allow Canadian provinces ( though not territories ) to leave the Canadian federal state ; however, as this would require a constitutional amendment, there is no current " constitutional " method for withdrawal.

Here Khnopff came in touch again with prominent artists from the Vienna Secession ; the architect of the Palais Stoclet Josef Hoffmann, and Gustav Klimt who had designed a decorative mosaic for its dining room.
