Sir Harry Donald Secombe, CBE ( 8 September 1921 – 11 April 2001 ) was a Welsh entertainer with a talent for comedy and a noted fine tenor singing voice.

In 1972, Secombe and Sellers told Michael Parkinson that Bentine was " always calling everyone a genius " and, since he was the only one of the four with a " proper education ", they always believed him.

While he was with the Central Pool of Artists ( a group he described as composed " of bomb-happy squaddies ") he began to write parodies of their mainstream plays, that displayed many of the key elements of what would later become The Goon Show ( originally called Crazy People ) with Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine.

The special was broadcast in June 1954 and featured the regular Goon Show cast ( Harry Secombe was then appearing in both ) plus Peter Brough, his dummy Archie Andrews and Hattie Jacques.

During his tenure, the Windmill was home to many famous variety artists including Freddie Eldrett ; numerous famous comedians and actors had their first real success there, including Jimmy Edwards, Tony Hancock, Harry Secombe, Peter Sellers, Michael Bentine, George Martin, Bruce Forsyth, Tommy Cooper and Barry Cryer.

Emery also made a guest appearance on the popular BBC radio programme The Goon Show, replacing regular cast member Harry Secombe when he was absent for one episode in 1957.

The film was directed by Richard Lester and the cast included Ralph Richardson, Arthur Lowe, Rita Tushingham, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Michael Hordern, Marty Feldman, Harry Secombe and Milligan himself.

") As was common with Goon Show characters, Sellers ' Bluebottle was paired with a Spike Milligan character, usually Eccles ( the third Goon, Harry Secombe, usually stayed in his alter-ego of Neddie Seagoon throughout the show ).

Andrew Secombe ( born 26 April 1953 in Mumbles, south Wales ), better known as Andy Secombe, is a Welsh actor, voice actor, and author.

After the war he decided to become a comedian and worked in the Windmill Theatre where he met Harry Secombe.

He co-founded The Goon Show radio show with Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe, but appeared in only the first 38 shows on the BBC Light Programme from 1951 to 1953.

On his return he parted amicably from his partners and continued touring in variety, remaining close to Secombe and Sellers for the rest of his life.

After a delayed start, Milligan, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine joined forces in a relatively radical comedy project, The Goon Show.

15-minute adaptations of the original scripts by Maurice Wiltshire were used instead, with Milligan, Sellers and Secombe reuniting to provide the voices ; according to a contemporary press report, they received the highest fees the BBC had ever paid for 15-minute shows.

After the death of Harry Secombe from cancer, he said, " I'm glad he died before me, because I didn't want him to sing at my funeral.
