Lady's slipper orchids ( also known as lady slipper orchids or slipper orchids ) are the orchids in the subfamily Cypripedioideae, which includes the genera Cypripedium, Mexipedium, Paphiopedilum, Phragmipedium and Selenipedium.

Along with Cypripedium, Mexipedium, Phragmipedium and Selenipedium, the genus is a member of the subfamily Cypripedioideae, commonly referred to as the " lady's-slippers " or " slipper orchids " due to the unusual shape of the pouch-like labellum of the flower.

Allied genera include Cypripedium, Paphiopedilum, Selenipedium and Phragmipedium.

The wild flower's Amazonian habitat is also under threat, so extinction is a risk for all species of Selenipedium.

* Selenipedium aequinoctiale ( The Equatorial occurring Selenipidum ) is a terrestrial orchid found in Ecuador.

* Selenipedium palmifolium A dry land flower, its habitat is endangered by deforestation of the Amazon basin for agriculture.

Allied genera include Paphiopedilum, Mexipedium, Cypripedium and Phragmipedium-a genus containing several species known by names including " Selenipedium ", such as Selenipedium caricinum, and Selenipedium laevigatum.
