Marine Services was put out to commercial tender by the Ministry of Defence Warship Support Agency ( now absorbed into the Defence Equipment and Support organisation ) and since 1996 tugs, lifting craft, various tenders and management of HMNB Devonport, Portsmouth and Clyde have been operated by Serco Denholm.

For most of the last 20 years of MOD usage, the principal RMAS assets seen in the base were the MOD Salvage & Mooring Team ( formerly CSALMO ) vessels located there, the majority of which were relocated to the Serco base in Burntisland on the River Forth upon the activation of the £ 1bn Future Provision of Marine Services ( FPMS ) contract in May 2008.

AWE plc is owned by a consortium of Jacobs Engineering Group, Lockheed Martin UK and Serco through AWE Management Ltd who hold a 25 year contract ( until March 2025 ) to operate AWE.

BNFL ( now represented by Sellafield Ltd and Nexia Solutions ) maintains a large office of the site, which is something of a nuclear nexus, with AMEC ( Formerly NNC ), WS Atkins Design, Environment & Engineering, Nuclear Technologies plc, Serco and Assurance Quintessa ( among others ) based on Birchwood Park.

Serco Listening plan to outsource certain departments to South Africa the location is yet unknown.

The prison is operated to a contract between Serco and the Scottish Prison Service.

Its operation is contracted out as a concession to the Serco Group until 2013.

Another local services section also operated by the Serco Group is the maintenance portion of the school bus operations of Portsmouth City Public Schools.

Northern Rail ( legal name Northern Rail Limited ), often referred to as Northern is a train operating company in the United Kingdom owned by Abellio / Serco operating the Northern Rail franchise.

Its Parent Body Organisation is UK Nuclear Waste Management Ltd, a consortium of URS, Studsvik, Areva and Serco.

Serco Group ( HK ) Limited is contracted to manage, operate and maintain it and Kai Tak Tunnel which have a daily total of approximately 90, 000 vehicles throughout in 2000.

When National came to power in 2008, the Department built a new 1, 000 bed prison at Mt Eden for $ 218 million in a public private partnership and gave the contract to Serco.

The front locomotive of the passenger train involved in the Southall rail crash in 1997, when an inter-city train collided with a freight train, killing 7 people, was scrapped here, being cut up by Serco 3 years after the incident, when the inquiry was complete.

In the UK Abellio partners with Serco in a joint-venture which runs Merseyrail services in and around Liverpool and Northern Rail across the north of England.

On 23 April 2003 Abellio / Serco were awarded the Merseyrail Electrics franchise with the services operated by Arriva Trains Merseyrail transferring to Merseyrail on 20 July 2003.

TransAdelaide retained 3 contract regions, Serco, in its first Australian bus operation, won 2 contract regions, and Hills Transit, a TransAdelaide company, won the Adelaide Hills operating contract.
