Before Spider-Man could lend his help, Shang-Chi had already beaten the gang members.

In gratitude, Shang-Chi only had time to teach him the White Ape maneuver before departing the city.

During a HYDRA attempt to take over S. H. I. E. L. D., she is tortured to such an extent that she regresses back to an old cover identity of schoolteacher Nancy Rushman, but she is recovered by Spider-Man in time to help Nick Fury and Shang-Chi work out what had happened and restore her memory, with " Nancy " developing an attraction to Spider-Man before her memory is restored during the final fight against Madam Viper, Boomerang and the Silver Samurai.

Though he is initially an enemy of Shang-Chi, the two become close friends over time.

Doctor Doom later constructed two robot duplicates of Razor Fist, which he pitted against Shang-Chi.

The series began by introducing Shang-Chi as a man raised by his father Fu Manchu to be the ultimate lackey for the would-be world conqueror.

As they evolved these characters became nearly as integral to the series as Shang-Chi himself:

* Rufus T. Hackstabber is a memorable character who appeared only twice in the series ; he keeps referring to Shang-Chi as " Chang-Shee ".

After working on Captain Marvel, Starlin and writer Steve Englehart co-created the character Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, though they only worked on the early issues of the series.

Shang-Chi () is a Marvel Comics character, often called the " Master of Kung Fu ".

Shang-Chi appeared again in issue # 16, and with issue # 17 ( April 1974 ) the title was changed to The Hands of Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu.

Later, Shang-Chi is seen attacking Magneto once again, but he is cut in half by the Master of Magnetism.

Marvel would later use the actual Fu Manchu as the principal foe of his son, Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu in the 1970s.

With a career dating back to the early 1970s, he is best known for " cosmic " tales and space opera ; for revamping the Marvel Comics characters Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock ; and for creating or co-creating the Marvel characters Thanos and Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu.

Iron Fist, along with the previously created Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, came from Marvel Comics during a pop culture trend in the early 1970s for martial arts heroes.

Following an inking assignment, over penciler Bob Brown on Daredevil # 108 ( March 1974 ), he began work on the character with which he became most associated, the philosophical martial artist / secret agent Shang-Chi in the comic Master of Kung Fu ( cover-billed as The Hands of Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu ) # 18 ( June 1974 ), inked by Al Milgrom.

He inked Paul Gulacy on Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu, Punisher and Catwoman.

Shang-Chi also appeared in Marvel's Special Collector's Edition # 1 entitled " Savage Fists of Kung Fu ".

Fu Manchu, Sax Rohmer, and Shang-Chi in The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu Special Album Edition # 1, Summer 1974, pp. 29 – 33.

Characters such as Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Shang-Chi, and Iron Fist have been seen by some as an attempt by Marvel Comics to cash in on the 1970s crazes for blaxploitation and Kung Fu movies.

The result was Shang-Chi, a master of kung fu, who was introduced as the ( previously unheard of ) son of Fu Manchu.

However, his first mission, in which he killed one of his father's old enemies, Dr. Petrie, ended with Shang-Chi learning of Fu Manchu's true, evil nature.

Shang-Chi was born in the Hunan province of the People's Republic of China, and is the son of Fu Manchu, the Chinese mastermind who has repeatedly attempted world conquest.

Shang-Chi battled the Shadow-Stalker and Fu Manchu's Phansigar followers, and rescued Dr. Petrie from Fu Manchu.

With his allies Smith, Tarr, Reston, and Wu, Shang-Chi opposed Fu Manchu ; With Tarr, Reston, and Wu, he then quit MI-6.

Shang-Chi opposed Fu Manchu and Fah Lo Suee once again.

Shang-Chi finally witnessed the death of Fu Manchu.

* Midnight is an African child named M ' Nai adopted by Fu Manchu, and raised alongside his son Shang-Chi.

Fu Manchu sent him to kill Shang-Chi after his son turned his back on him, even though Shang-Chi and M ' Nai considered themselves brothers.

Shang-Chi battled Midnight, and then first met his close ally Black Jack Tarr.

Shang-Chi then teamed with Spider-Man, the Black Widow, and Nick Fury against Viper, Boomerang, and Silver Samurai.

The conflict climaxed when Shang-Chi, Danny Rand, Spider-Man, Black Cat, Moon Knight and Elektra ambushed Hammerhead's penthouse, where a battle royale ensued.

After an intense battle with Spider-Man, Black Cat, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, and Shang-Chi, he was put in a coma when Elektra brutally stabbed him in the chest with her sai and flung him out a window.

Using these " photographic reflexes ," the Taskmaster is highly skilled in various forms of combat, as an exceptional martial artist ( mimicking Elektra, Iron Fist, Shang-Chi ), a skilled swordsman ( Black Knight, Silver Samurai, Swordsman ), a deadly accurate marksman ( Captain America with a shield, Hawkeye with a bow and arrow, Punisher with firearms, and Bullseye with various projectiles ) as well as displaying a strenuously honed athletic ability ( Black Panther, Daredevil, Spider-Man ).

* Cloak and Dagger were chosen as one of the many properties in Marvel's new film deal with Paramount Pictures, along with Captain America, Nick Fury, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, Power Pack, Shang-Chi, and Black Panther.

Shang-Chi returned as a main character in the 2007 Heroes for Hire comic book, and both he and several characters of his supporting cast appear in that year's Wisdom miniseries.
