Among Yao's current and former students are Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo, whom he coached to three Olympic medals ( two bronzes, one gold ) and seven World medals ; Pang Qing & Tong Jian ; Zhang Dan & Zhang Hao ; Dong Huibo & Wu Yiming ; Li Jiaqi & Xu Jiankun ; and Zhang Yue & Wang Lei.

In China, the polymath Shen Kuo ( 1031 – 1095 ) formulated a hypothesis for the process of land formation: based on his observation of fossil animal shells in a geological stratum in a mountain hundreds of miles from the ocean, he inferred that the land was formed by erosion of the mountains and by deposition of silt.

After the discovery marine fossils in the Taihang Mountains ( hundreds of miles from the Pacific Ocean ), Shen Kuo devised a theory of land formation, or geomorphology.

Pu Songling brought the short story form to a new level in his Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, published in the mid-18th century, and Shen Fu demonstrated the charm of the informal memoir in Six Chapters of a Floating Life, written in the early 19th century but published only in 1877.

Nobles from Zheng, Lu, Qin, Xu, and Shen declared the Marquess's grandson, Ji Yijiu, as the new king.

However, Shen Kuo alluded to the fact that the Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang written in about 840 AD by Duan Chengshi ( d. 863 ) during the Tang Dynasty ( 618 – 907 ) mentioned inverting the image of a Chinese pagoda tower beside a seashore.

Shen wrote of Cheng's book: " Morsels from Youyang said that the image of the pagoda is inverted because it is beside the sea, and that the sea has that effect.

However, this campaign was ultimately a failure due to a rival military officer of Shen disobeying direct orders, and the territory gained from the Western Xia was eventually lost.

After the Zhou capital was sacked by the Marquess of Shen and the Quanrong barbarians, the Zhou moved the capital east from the now desolated Zongzhou in Haojing near modern Xi ' an to Chengzhou in the Yellow River Valley.

To aid the ruler and help prevent misgovernance, Shen Buhai – a minister from the state of Han for fifteen years – formalized the concept of shu () or the bureaucratic model of administration that served to advance the ideal Legalist ruler ’ s program.

However, when King Chungsuk fathered Buddhashri ( King Chunghye ), Öljeyitü forced to abdicate from crown prince, but King Chungseon transferred his post of King of Shen to him instead.

Shen Buhai (, died 337 BC ) was a Chinese bureaucrat who was the Chancellor of Han under Marquis Zhao of Han from 351 BC to 337 BC.

Shen Buhai believed that the ideal ruler should remain distant from his officials, keeping his innermost thoughts secret and maintaining an independence of thought.

To Shen Buhai, the greatest threat to a ruler's power came from within.

In 141 BC, under the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, Shen Buhai's name was listed with other legalist thinkers whose ideas were officially banned from the government ; from that point on, scholarship on the ideas of Shen Buhai went into a steep decline.

A country named Fusang was described by the native Buddhist missionary Hui Shen () in 499 CE, as a place 20, 000 Chinese li east of Da-han, and also east of China ( according to Joseph Needham, Da-han corresponds to the Buriat region of Siberia ).

One of its best-known passages is the description by the monk Hui Shen ( 慧深 ) of the country of Fusang, 20, 000 li east of China.

Hu Shuli was born in Beijing, from a lineage of notable journalists: her grandfather, Hu Zhongchi, was a famous translator and editor at Shen Bao and his older brother Hu Yuzhi ( 1896 – 1986 ), " an early proponent of language reform, the use of Esperanto, and realism in literature ," was involved in editing and publishing.

A star catalogue is featured in one of the chapters of the late 2nd-century-BC history work Records of the Grand Historian by Sima Qian ( 145-86 BC ) and contains the " schools " of Shi Shen and Gan De's work ( i. e. the different constellations they allegedly focused on for astrological purposes ).

* The Song Dynasty Chinese polymath scientist and statesman Shen Kuo is appointed as the head official for the Bureau of Astronomy, where he begins his groundbreaking work with the colleague Wei Pu on accurately plotting the orbital paths of the stars, planets, and moon three times a night for a continuum of five years.

Another historian, Shen Yue, pointed out Emperor Wen was said to model his command on the great general Emperor Guangwu of Han, but he lacked the latter's command abilities.

The Sheng ' an waiji ( 升庵外集 ) collection by the poet Yang Shen ( 楊慎, 1488 – 1559 ) gives different 5th and 9th names for the dragon's nine children: the taotie ( 饕餮 ), which loves to eat and is found on food-related wares, and the jiaotu ( 椒圖 ), which looks like a conch or clam, does not like to be disturbed, and is used on the front door or the doorstep.

While officially the band still exists, and its well-known name was used in 2001 to promote a ' duel ' album pitting the two label's artists against each other, Kool Shen was quoted in 2004 saying " on a fini avec NTM en 98 " (" We were done with NTM in 1998 ").

Later, in the Warring States Period ( 475 – 221 BC ), the script became still more regular, and settled on a form, called 六國文字 / 六国文字 liùguó wénzì " script of the six states ", that Xu Shen used as source material in the Shuowen Jiezi.

The Chinese scientist and statesman Shen Kuo ( 1031 – 1095 ) spent some of his youth there while his father was a local bureaucrat on the government staff.

Painter-poets, such as Shen Zhou ( 1427 – 1509 ), Tang Yin ( 1470 – 1524 ), Wen Zhengming ( 1470 – 1559 ), and Yun Shouping ( 1633 – 1690 ), created worthy conspicuous poems as they combined art, poetry and calligraphy with brush on paper.

Ecliptical mountings of this sort were found on the armillary instruments of Zhou Cong and Shu Yijian in 1050, as well as Shen Kuo's armillary sphere of the later 11th century, but after that point they were no longer employed on Chinese armillary instruments until the arrival of the European Jesuits.

Equipped with the magnetic compass and knowledge of Shen Kuo's famous treatise ( on the concept of true north ), the Chinese became proficient experts of navigation in their day.

Although Wang had the alliance of such prominent court figures as Shen Kuo, imperial scholar-officials such as Su Dongpo and Ouyang Xiu bitterly opposed these reforms on the grounds of tradition.

The agreement was signed on March 23 in Lausanne by Shen Chia-ming, the President of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, and Juan Antonio Samaranch, the President of the IOC.

Ming Pao was first published on May 20, 1959, and was founded by the famous Chinese wuxia novelist Louis Cha (), known better by his pseudonym Jinyong ( 金庸 ), and his friend, Shen Pao Sing ( 沈寶新 ).

She was buried by the Central House of the Army with full honors, including a funeral oration at the cathedral of Shen Pjetri, on October 26, 2002, and interred in the public cemetery of Sharra, Albania, in the " VIP plot ".

Sinyan Shen, internationally known for his Shanghai classical repertoire and Shanghai jazz performances based on tonal interests and just intervals, is based in Chicago.

The Confucian Xun Zi strongly criticized Shen Buhai's emphasis on secrecy and lack of trust in ministers.

Queen Shen's father, the Marquess of Shen, was furious at the deposition of his daughter and grandson Crown Prince Yijiu and mounted an attack on King You's palace with the Quanrong.
