On Monday 14 April 2008, Cheshire's 106. 9 Silk FM unveiled to its listeners their own campaign song to save Jodrell Bank, entitled " The Jodrell Bank Song " and sung by a group dubbed " The Astronomers ".

Along with the song, the Silk FM team also produced a music video filmed in front of the iconic Lovell telescope.

The Silk FM Stand ( traditionally known as the London Road or Main Stand ) runs along one side of the pitch and consists of a seated grandstand with open air terracing to either side, and the opposite side is the seated Alfred McAlpine Stand.

Under the directorship of Martin Mumford, Rugby FM launched on 31 August 2002 — former Silk FM controller Trevor Thomas was the first voice on-air, also working as the station's programme manager, before leaving to join Warwickshire neighbour The Bear 102.

It was part of The Local Radio Company, before being sold to Dee 106. 3 in 2009, who renamed the station from its original " 106. 9 Silk FM ".

Anchor Bay Entertainment released the first 5 seasons of Silk Stalkings on DVD in Region 1 between 2004 and 2006.

In 2003, down to a quartet, Silk released their fifth album Silktime, on their own label Silk Music Group.

She was interviewed for the Silk Stalkings Season 1 DVD which was distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment and released in September 2004.

In 1978, Gunston released another covers album Nylon Degrees ( sending up Boz Scaggs ' Silk Degrees in both title and cover art ).

Their second album, Silk and Steel, released in 1986, included five UK Top 10 chart hits: " Can't Wait Another Minute ", " Find The Time ", " Rain Or Shine ", " Stay Out Of My Life " ( penned by Denise ) and " The Slightest Touch ".

During this time he was in the band Silk which released one album, Smooth As Raw Silk, on ABC Records in 1969.

The rhyme at the end of the song was originally written by Steve " Silk " Hurley and was included on a song titled " Music is the Key ", which was previously released by Chicago house-music group JM Silk, of which Hurley was the founder.

Giuffria's next album Silk and Steel, was released in 1986, following some lineup changes.

Minott also produced early works by Nitty Gritty, Junior Reid, Yami Bolo, Colourman, Daddy Freddy and Garnett Silk, who recorded his first song for Minott.

Kitaro has a song called " Caravansary " ( Listen ): on his album Silk Road IV: Tenjiku / India ( 1983 ).

Following the release of Sons of Soul, the group was a part of the R & B supergroup Black Men United, Silk and H-Town was included in the group as well with the song " U Will Know " which appeared on the soundtrack for the movie Jason's Lyric.

As for the real voices that were actually used, " U Got 2 Know " included Xaviera Gold's vocals from " You Used To Hold Me ", " U Got 2 Let the Music " sampled a vocal from a JM Silk track, and the vocals for " U & Me " was sampled from a song by Vicki Shepard.

Nina Simone covered the song in her 1967 album Silk and Soul.

There are several species of Saturniidae that are also farmed for their silk, such as the Ailanthus moth ( Samia cynthia group of species ), the Chinese Oak Silkmoth ( Antheraea pernyi ), the Assam Silkmoth ( Antheraea assamensis ), and the Japanese Silk Moth ( Antheraea yamamai ).
