Later, fearing the consequences should Sima Ai escape, Sima Yue sent Sima Ai to Sima Yong ( Sima Yue's second cousin ), who burnt Sima Ai alive.

When Sima Shi notified her that he intended to make Cao Pi's brother Cao Ju ( 曹據 ), the Prince of Pengcheng, emperor, she managed to persuade him that such a succession would be improper, since Cao Ju was the uncle of her husband Cao Rui, such a succession would leave Cao Rui effectively without an heir.
In 228, Zhuge Liang launched his Northern Expeditions against Wei, Ma Su also proposed a plot to remove Sima Yi from command by causing discord within Wei by spreading rumors that Sima Yi intended to rebel and Cao Rui then removed him from command.
