Solofa Fatu Jr. ( born October 11, 1966 ) is a Samoan American professional wrestler, best known under the ring name Rikishi with World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ), where he was a one time Intercontinental Champion, two time World Tag Team Champion, and one time WWE Tag Team Champion.

In 1996, Matt and Eddie were brought into the World Wrestling Federation ( WWF ) together to take part in an angle with Eddie's brother Solofa Fatu who was working under just his family name with a gimmick that he wanted to be a positive influence on kids and that he wanted to " make a difference " in inner city neighborhoods.

Due to copyright issues with World Wrestling Entertainment, Sexay and Rikishi competed as Brian Christopher and Solofa Fatu, Jr., respectively, and were unable to use the Too Cool name.

When he returned to the NWA in 1988, he managed The New Wild Samoans ( Solofa Fatu, Samu, and the Tonga Kid ).

While working in Montreal Samu hung out with his cousin Solofa Fatu who was working in the area as the friendly babyface " Prince Alofa ".

Fatu went on to work with Solofa Fatu in his promotion Nu-Wrestling Evolution.

His brothers are Eddie Fatu, who wrestled as Umaga, and Solofa Fatu, who wrestled as Rikishi.

His two older brothers, Sam ( better known as Tonga Kid and Tama ) and Solofa Jr. ( better known as Rikishi ), are also professional wrestlers who have achieved success of their own.

While working in Montreal, Solofa hung out with his cousin Samula Anoaʻi who was working in the area as the heel " The Great Samu ".

The next year, both Fatu and his cousin Matt were brought into the World Wrestling Federation ( WWF ) to take part in an angle with Solafa Fatu, Jr., Fatu's brother and Matt's cousin, that ended up being quickly dropped.

The events surrounding his stay on the Marquesas, most of the time on Fatu Hiva, were told first in his book På Jakt efter Paradiset ( Hunt for Paradise ) ( 1938 ), which was published in Norway but, following the outbreak of World War II, never translated and largely forgotten.

Mendaña visited first Fatu Hiva and then Tahuata before continuing on to the Solomon Islands.

They fall naturally into two geographical divisions: the northern group, consisting of Eiao, Hatutu ( Hatutaa ), Motu One, and the islands centered around the large island of Nuku Hiva: Motu Iti ( Hatu Iti ), Ua Pu, Motu Oa and Ua Huka, and the southern group of Fatu Uku, Tahuata, Moho Tani ( Motane ), Terihi, Fatu Hiva and Motu Nao ( Thomasset Rock ), clustered around the main island of Hiva ` Oa.

The North Marquesan dialects are spoken on the islands of Ua Pu and Nuku Hiva, and South Marquesan dialects on the islands of Hiva ` Oa, Tahuata and Fatu Hiva.

Anoa ' i, along with his late cousin Eddie Fatu, was trained at the Wild Samoan Training Facility headed by his uncle, Afa Anoa ' i. Following his training, he competed in Afa's World Xtreme Wrestling ( WXW ) promotion.

While situated at HWA, he was placed in tag team competition, alongside Fatu, in which they won the HWA Tag Team Championship.

After signing with WWE in 2002, Anoa ' i and Fatu were called up to the Raw roster and were known as the 3-Minute Warning.

Following the release of Fatu in 2003, Anoa ' i was " discovered " by The Hurricane and from there on they would compete together as a team, known as Rosey and The Hurricane.

Anoa ' i trained with his cousin Eddie Fatu at the Wild Samoan professional wrestling school operated by members of their family.

In June 2001, he travelled to Japan to wrestle for Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling ( FMW ) where, using the name Matty Samu, he teamed with Fatu to defeat Hideki Hosaka and Yoshinori Sasaki to win the FMW Hardcore Tag Team Championship.

Anoa ' i, along with Fatu, signed developmental contracts with World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ), and were assigned to Heartland Wrestling Association ( HWA ), adopting the tag team name The Island Boyz, and with Anoa ' i using the ring name Kimo.

Another of his cousins, Eddie Fatu ( best known as Jamal or Umaga ), died on December 4, 2009 due to a heart attack.

Fatu Hiva ( the " H " is not pronounced, see name section below ) is the southernmost island of the Marquesas Islands, in French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean.

Fatu Hiva is also the title of a book by explorer and archaeologist Thor Heyerdahl, in which he describes his stay on the island in the 1930s.

However, the name was recorded by Europeans as Fatu Hiva, perhaps under the influence of other Marquesan islands containing the element Hiva ( Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa ) and also because in French the letter " h " is silent.

Repackaged under the ring name " Umaga ", Fatu went undefeated for many months on WWE's Raw brand throughout much of 2006, before suffering his first defeat under the Umaga name in January 2007.

The Samoan Gangster Party, however, never got in the ring or confronted Fatu before he was repackaged and the whole angle was dropped.

While in Montreal, Fatu worked as Prince Alofa, a high flying babyface often working as a team with the territory ’ s top faces.

The family worked for the Universal Wrestling Association in 1991 with Fatu, Kokina, and The Samoan Savage winning the UWA Trios Tag-Team titles and holding it for just under two months.

Shortly after being cut by the WWE, Edward Fatu would sign for a short period of time with TNA Wrestling and wrestler under the name Ekmo Fatu, while a member of the TNA roster he would form a tag team with Sonny Siaki.

Fatu left TNA for All Japan Pro Wrestling, where he used the name Jamal, the same name he'd used as a member of 3-Minute Warning in his WWE ( World Wrestling Entertainment ) career.

Samu and Fatu next appeared in Texas, working for Fritz Von Erich ’ s World Class Championship Wrestling promotion.

Motu Nao is the Marquesan name for a small rock island in the southeastern Marquesas Islands, approximately northeast of Fatu Hiva.
