Benjamin McLane Spock was born May 2, 1903, in New Haven, Connecticut ; his parents were Benjamin Ives Spock, a Yale graduate and long-time general counsel of the New Haven Railroad, and Mildred Louise Stoughton Spock.

A few sources have her ( non-canon ) origin story as follows: she was rescued from the colony, along with other children, by Spock, and she was adopted by his parents Ambassador Sarek and Amanda Grayson.

It features the first appearance of Sarek and Amanda, the parents of First Officer Spock.

Although such principles began to be rejected as early as the 1930s, they were firmly renounced in the 1946 best-seller Baby and Child Care, by pediatrician Benjamin Spock, which told parents to trust their own instincts and to view the child as a reasonable, friendly human being.

In the TOS episode " This Side of Paradise ", Leila Kalomi hints at having had a special relationship with Spock some six years earlier, though Spock's remark that he hoped his half-human blood would see him " spared " the agony of pon farr in the episode Amok Time suggests that their relationship was more casual.

They manage to get control of the Transporter Room, and Kirk and Spock return to see if time can be repaired.

Spock died while saving the Enterprise during the events of Wrath of Khan, but before his death transferred his katra to Dr. Leonard McCoy ( see Vulcans for more information on this ability ).

Spock makes a statement at the end, saying that it would be interesting to see what Khan makes of Ceti Alpha V in 100 years.

In the midst of this work, Leila asks to see Spock.

Spock is further surprised to see that an Andorian officer, Commander Thelin, has replaced him as first officer.

Spock scans it and learns that it is an energy field that, if activated before the Enterprise is repaired, means they " will not see home again.

Wondering if they might be about to lose their Chief Engineer, Spock, McCoy and others see a similar apparition floating on the bridge and confirm that Uhura isn't going mad.

" Exquisite chemistry " among Kelley, William Shatner, and Leonard Nimoy manifested itself in their performances as McCoy, Captain James T. Kirk and science officer Spock, respectively.

" They chose to reveal McCoy befriended Kirk first, explaining the " bias " in their friendship and why he would often be a " little dismissive " of Spock.

Sargon claimed that his people had seeded their species throughout the galaxy, and Spock said that could explain some enigmas of Vulcan pre-history.

Driven mad with grief, mostly because of the death of his pregnant wife, Nero and his men seek revenge against the Federation, whom they view as having caused the catastrophe indirectly, including the older version of Spock using the superior technology of their ship and equipment.

In the 2009 film Star Trek, screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci focused their story on Kirk and Spock in the movie's alternative timeline while attempting to preserve key character traits from the previous depictions.

In addition, their hearts are located on the right side of the torso, in between the ribs and pelvis, as Dr. McCoy once says about Spock: “ He is lucky that his heart is where his liver should be, or he ’ d be dead !” ( ST: TOS, A Private Little War )

Some Vulcans, such as T ' Pol, Sarek ( in his later years, due to a rare disease which can affect Vulcans over the age of 200 years ), and Soval, carry their emotions close to the surface, and are prone to emotional outbursts, even without outside influences or illness ; T ' Pau certainly displayed restrained but definite emotions in the TOS episode " Amok Time ", including suspicion of the Human visitors followed by admiration and approval of their friendship for Spock, and contempt for Spock's humanity.

According to the DVD commentary of the film, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, actors Leonard Nimoy and Kirstie Alley, portraying Spock and Saavik respectively, spoke their lines in English, and later dubbed in alien dialogue ( at least partially designed by linguist Marc Okrand ) that corresponded with the movements of their mouths in the scene.

Spock is unable to complete the Kolinahr ritual after he senses the coming of V ' ger, and rejoins Starfleet to aid the Enterprise crew in their mission.

Spock serves as a special envoy to broker peace with the Klingons after a natural disaster devastates their homeworld.

In the film's prologue ( set 19 years after the events of Unification, and as depicted in the graphic novel Star Trek: Countdown ), Ambassador Spock ( Nimoy ) promises the Romulans he will use Vulcan technology to save them from a rogue supernova that threatens to destroy their Empire.

The film also depicts Kirk and Spock's initial clashes at Starfleet Academy, and the gradual development of their friendship based on shared mutual respect, what the elder Spock calls "... a friendship that will define both in ways cannot yet realize.

The actor concluded from the warm and intense reception he received that astronauts like John Glenn and aerospace industry engineers, secretaries, and shareholders alike all regarded Star Trek, and especially the character of Spock, as a " dramatization of the future of their space program ".

But Spock would tell reporters, when questioned about their age difference, that they were both 16.

Spock advocated that infants should not be placed on their back when sleeping, commenting in his 1958 edition that " if infant vomits, he's more likely to choke on the vomitus.

Accompanied by the Vulcan Spock, still recovering from his resurrection, the crew take their stolen Klingon Bird-of-Prey starship and head to Earth to face trial for their theft and destruction of the Enterprise, except for Saavik.

In Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, when Spock and the rest of Kirk's crew return to Earth and save it from destruction before being largely exonerated at their subsequent trial, Sarek had a private audience with his son.

At this moment, father and son have reconciled as they grieve together over the losses of their world and loved ones, before Spock leaves to stop Nero from causing any more destruction and to avenge his mother's untimely death.

The two assassins are found dead, but Kirk and Spock trick their accomplice into believing they are still alive.

A scene where Spock asks Kirk if they have grown so old and inflexible they have outlived their usefulness had two meanings: it was as much Nimoy asking Shatner as it was their characters.

An early Filmation proposal for this series had children assigned to each of the senior officers as cadets, including a young Vulcan for Mr. Spock.

Star Trek ( 2009 ) also references " Yesteryear ", featuring a nearly identical scene in which a young Spock is confronted by several other Vulcan children, who bully and provoke him for being part human.

As the eldest of six children, Spock helped take care of his siblings in various ways.

In the seventh edition of Baby and Child Care, published a few weeks after he died, Spock advocated for a bold change in children's diets, recommending that all children switch to a vegan diet after the age of 2.

Spock had two children: Michael and John.

Spock explains that Vulcans are married as children (" less than marriage, more than a betrothal ") with the understanding that they will fulfill this commitment when they become adults.

As it turns out, " Katra " is a Vulcan trait that Kramer saw in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and in actuality, Kramer is the only adult in a karate class full of children.

Kirk rounds up the children and returns to the hospital, but finds that Spock has previously found that McCoy, unable to accurately test his experimental serum, has injected himself with a full dose and collapsed to the floor.

Overview: On a distant planet, Kirk, Spock and McCoy find a scientific team dead, and their children who, unknown to the crew, have great powers at their disposal.

After the funeral, the children and Dr. McCoy beam to the Enterprise while Kirk and Spock investigate a nearby cave where Spock has been getting anomalous readings on his tricorder.

Spock says that the children are not evil, but are being used by an evil, alien power.

" In another episode ( The Counter Clock Incident ), Captain Kirk and Spock helped Robert April to create a new dimension, but then all of the crew regressed back into children, and the Aprils reverted to teenagers or young adults.
