Stanisław Leśniewski and Kazimierz Ajdukiewicz were inspired by Husserl's formal analysis of language.

The royal election of 1764 resulted in the elevation of Stanisław August Poniatowski, a refined and worldly aristocrat connected to a major magnate faction, but hand-picked and imposed by Empress Catherine II of Russia, who expected Poniatowski to be her obedient follower.

The long-lasting sejm convened by Stanisław August in 1788 is known as the Great, or Four-Year Sejm.

Thirty years earlier, Stanisław had been installed as king of Poland by King Charles XII of Sweden during his period of dominance in the early part of the Great Northern War, and was ousted following the Battle of Poltava by the victorious Russians.

Stanisław was supported in his bid to regain the throne by his son-in-law, King Louis XV of France, who hoped to renew France's traditional alliance with Poland as a way to balance Russian and Austrian power in northern and eastern Europe.

The Russians, led by Lascy, quickly took Warsaw and installed Augustus, forcing Stanisław to flee to Danzig ( present-day Gdańsk ), where he was besieged for some time by a Russian-Saxon army that came under the overall command of Field Marshal Burkhard Christoph von Münnich.

This ended major military activity in Poland itself, although it continued to be occupied by foreign troops as Augustus dealt with partisan supporters of Stanisław.

Shortly thereafter, in early September 1980, Gierek was replaced as by Stanisław Kania as General Secretary of the party by the Central Committee, amidst much social and economic unrest.

The Polish Museum of America possesses the painting of " Pulaski at Savannah " by Stanisław Kaczor Batowski, which was exhibited at the Century of Progress fair and where it won first place.

In 1737, after the War of the Polish Succession, Lorraine was part of an agreement between France, the House of Habsburg and the Lorraine House of Vaudémont: The Duchy was given to Stanisław Leszczyński, the former king of Poland and father-in-law to King Louis XV of France, who despite French support had lost out to a candidate backed by Russia and Austria in the War of the Polish Succession.

When Stanisław died on 23 February 1766, Lorraine was annexed by France and reorganized as a province by the French government.

Krasicki was honored by Poland's King Stanisław August Poniatowski with the Order of the White Eagle and the Order of Saint Stanisław, as well as with a special 1780 medal featuring the Latin device, " Dignum laude virum Musa vetat mori " (" The Muse will not let perish, men who are deserving of glory "); and by Prussia's King Frederick the Great, with the Order of the Red Eagle.

Stanisław Moniuszko's opera Straszny Dwór ( in English The Haunted Manor ) ( 1861-4 ) represents a nineteenth century peak of Polish national opera.

These mostly Polish republicans, such as Łukasz Górnicki, Andrzej Wolan, and Stanisław Konarski, were well read in classical and Renaissance texts and firmly believed that their state was a republic on the Roman model, and started to call their state the Rzeczpospolita.

He may have attended lectures at the Jagiellonian University at that time, including those of the famous Polish mathematician Stanisław Zaremba ( mathematician ), but little is known of that period of his life.

Former Polish King Stanisław Leszczyński hoped to be elected king once again upon the death of his old adversary, Augustus II of Saxony, who had failed in his attempts to make the Polish crown hereditary within his family.

In 1732 Empress Anna of Russia, Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI and King Frederick William I of Prussia, irritated with Augustus but unwilling to allow Stanisław to become king, secretly signed Löwenwolde's Treaty, in which they agreed to jointly back the candidacy of Infante Manuel of Portugal for the Polish throne.
