* Stewie Speer, an Australian drummer best known as a member of the 1960s – 70s group Max Merritt & The Meteors

For four to five nights a week, and Sunday afternoons, up to 200 people would gather in the upstairs room to hear Brian Brown, Stewie Speer, Alan Lee, Graeme Morgan, Keith Hounslow, the Melbourne New Orleans Jazz Band and many other local jazz musicians, and Jazz Centre 44 remained a major venue for jazz in Melbourne for almost a decade.

Many leading jazz performers like Graeme Lyall, Stewie Speer and John Sangster worked with rock groups and absorbed important stylistic influences from the Motown, soul music and funk genres.

Stewie Speer might well have remained a respected but relatively little-known member of the Australian jazz scene had it not been for a series of coincidences that brought him together with Christchurch-born R & B singer Max Merritt.

After recruiting flamboyant NZ-born bass player John " Yuk " Harrison ( ex Invaders, Heart ' n ' Soul ) Merritt invited Stewie Speer to join as their new drummer in May 1967.

Stewie Speer returned to live in Sydney in 1980, and he remained active on the local scene, although the health problems stemming from the 1967 car accident affected him increasingly during his last years.

Only weeks after joining, Bertles, Merritt and drummer Stewie Speer narrowly escaped death after their van collided head-on with a truck on the way to a country dance ; all three were seriously injured and Bertles was left with a permanent limp.

Turmoil within The Meteors saw a rapid turn-over of members and by May, Merritt with Bob Birtles on saxophone, Stewart " Stewie " Speer on drums and John " Yuk " Harrison on bass guitar, decided to relocate to Melbourne.

On the second tour he put together a band with Stewie Speer on drums, Paul Grant on guitar, John Williams on keyboards, Martin Jenner on guitar and Phil Lawson on bass.

When Chris Griffin in Family Guy in Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story was required by his mother Lois Griffin to mention the fourth member of Sex and the City, he couldn't come up with the correct answer, he instead took a wild and very inaccurate guess by saying it was Scrappy Doo.

LaFontaine's voice was used in Family Guy episodes " North by North Quahog ", and " Brian Sings and Swings ", and The Untold Story version of " Stewie B. Goode ", and has been featured in musical tracks.

Chris also has an apparent physical attraction to his mother, Lois, which was noted in the commentary of Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, near the end of the movie Peter comments about " The incest episode ".

It was furthermore used in " Peterotica ", when Stewie plays with " the speech function on his Macintosh ", Using Talking Moose software, Stewie gets his laptop to say " Stewie is cool.

In the Family Guy episode Road to Rupert the dance with Gene Kelly in Anchors Aweigh was featured by rotoscoping Stewie Griffin in Jerry's place.

This sequence was later lifted and reanimated frame-for-frame in the Family Guy episode " Road to Rupert ", where Jerry was replaced with Stewie Griffin.

He was also featured, along with Stewie, in a commercial advertising Wheat Thins.

In 2004, the first series of Family Guy toy figurines was released by Mezco Toyz, each member of the Griffin family had their own toy, with the exception of Stewie, of whom two different figures were made.

He was also the sculptor of the imposing bronze statue of Stewie Griffin in London's Grosvenor Square ( facing the United States Embassy ), the George V by the House of Lords and another in Jersey, the John Soane statue at the Bank of England, and the equestrian statue of Lady Godiva, which was stolen on 22 October 1949 in Broadgate, Coventry, England, a £ 20, 000 gift from Mr WH Bassett-Green, a Coventrian.

For example, entire sequences of the Family Guy two-part episode " Stewie Kills Lois " and " Lois Kills Stewie " are revealed to have taken place within a virtual reality simulation, upon which a character asks whether a potential viewer could be angry that they have effectively watched a dream sequence, but this technique can also be effective and its use lauded when the status of dream or reality is left more ambiguous as it was in The Wizard of Oz.

Multimedia news and reviews website IGN was pleased to see Stewie and Brian get more screen time as a duo, something they thought had always been one of the show's biggest strengths.

Cleghorne was mentioned on a segment of the Family Guy DVD Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, when Stewie asks if " they ever found a successful vehicle for Ellen Cleghorne.

In the Family Guy episode, " Deep Throats ", Stewie yells the theme song at the top of his lungs, to drown out the other characters who are talking as the show plays.

Stewie also appears as an interactive hallucination of Booth on Bones when the agent has issues over possibly becoming a sperm donor, with David Boreanaz ( who plays Booth ) repaying the favor in Road to the North Pole.

The voice of Brian is provided by series creator Seth MacFarlane, who also provides the voice for Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, and Glenn Quagmire.

Lois, watching Stewie, regains her sanity and begins to descend the tree ; but Peter, who feels Lois still does not get it, orders the police to shoot her with a tranquilizer dart.

However, Stewie finds them and starts screaming in horror, but videotapes and shows the tape to Brian, who goes to the hotel that Peter is staying at.
