, or just Capcom, is a Japanese developer and publisher of videogames, known for creating multi-million-selling franchises such as Mega Man, Resident Evil and Street Fighter.

In 1994, Capcom adapted its Street Fighter series of fighting games into a film of the same name.

Affiliated companies include Koko Capcom Co., Ltd. in South Korea, Street Fighter Film, LLC in the United States, and Dellgamadas Co., Ltd.

Capcom launched its Street Fighter franchise in 1987.

Also in 1985, Yie Ar Kung-Fu featured antagonists with differing fighting styles, while 1987's Street Fighter introduced hidden special attacks.

Sometimes, a character can even be noted especially for taunting ( for example, Dan Hibiki from Street Fighter Alpha ).

This became a strong convention for the genre with the release of Street Fighter II, and these character choices have led to deeper game strategy and replay value.

Both Karate Champ and Yie Ar Kung Fu later provided a template for Capcom's Street Fighter in 1987.
