Strontium is a grey, silvery metal that is softer than calcium and even more reactive in water, with which it reacts on contact to produce strontium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.

Strontium ranelate is registered as a prescription drug in Europe and many countries worldwide.

The most famous and respected of the Strontium Dogs is Johnny Alpha, whose mutant eyes allow him to see through walls and read minds.

Johnny's original partner is Wulf Sternhammer, who is not a mutant but a normal human from Scandinavia ; he became a Strontium Dog out of a sense of camaraderie with Johnny, and despite the indignities he viewed it as good work as it kept the galaxy " safe for decent people ".

Mutants remain on Earth, the S / D Agency still exists and has a new Doghouse satellite, and the UK government is said to be " apologists and mutie-lovers ", ignoring Strontium Dogs.

Rebellion Developments, the current owners of 2000 AD and a video game developer, have hinted that a Strontium Dog game may be in the works ( their third 2000 AD game property after Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper ).

A few months after the breakup of Strontium 90, Howlett served as bassist for the one-off studio band The Radio Actors, which also included Gong bandmate Steve Hillage on lead guitar and Strontium 90 bandmate Sting ( who came to the group by way of Howlett's recommendation ) on lead vocals.

However Sting was dissatisfied with Padovani's technical abilities, paving the way for Andy Summers, whom they met after a brief tour as part of Mike Howlett's band Strontium 90.

Strontium ranelate has been approved in 27 European countries, having been found to build bone both by slowing the work of osteoclasts and stimulating osteoblasts.

Strontium should not be taken with calcium supplements, to improve absorption.

A Strontium isotope analysis of 86 people from Bell Beaker graves in Bavaria suggests that between 18-25 % of all graves were occupied by people who came from a considerable distance outside the area.

They are best known for their Doctor Who line ; other properties include the characters Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog from 2000 AD, Dark Shadows, Sapphire & Steel, Stargate, Blake's 7 and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes character.

Writer Jonathan Clements would pen another Strontium Dog story for the series though with Fire from Heaven before the sixteenth play in the 2000 AD range, Pre-Emptive Revenge.

The mutants of Strontium Dog differ from the usual depiction of mutants in American comics, such as those published by Marvel, in that they are generally afflicted with severe physical deformities and only rarely granted with superhuman powers.

The album contains a two-and-a-half minute spoken word track ( the second half of ' The Source of Strontium 90 ') from a member of the Radiation and Public Health Project about the risks of radioactive fallout from nuclear power plants for children in South Florida.
