During these travels, he met Swami Brahmananda, Saradananda, Turiyananda, Akhandananda and Advaitananda.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi became a disciple and assistant of Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, the Shankaracharya ( spiritual leader ) of Jyotirmath in the Indian Himalayas.

While a few sources say that he worked in a factory for some time most report that in 1941, he became an administrative secretary to the Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati ( also known as Guru Dev ) and took a new name, Bal Brahmachari Mahesh.

He was trusted to take care of the bulk of Swami Brahmananda Saraswati's correspondence without direction, and was also sent out to give public speeches on Vedic ( scriptural ) themes.

Brahmachari Mahesh remained with Swami Brahmananda Saraswati until the latter died in 1953, when he moved to Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand in the Himalayas.

Swami Vivekananda (; pronounced: ) ( 12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902 ), born Narendra Nath Datta (), was an Indian Hindu monk.

Swami Vivekananda was born as Narendranath Dutta in Calcutta, the capital of British India, on 12 January 1863 during the Makar Sankranti festival.

At the end of January 1891, the Swami left his fellows and journeyed to Delhi.

Rakhal Chandra Ghosh ( Swami Brahmananda ) was born on 21st January 1863 at Sikra Kulingram, a village 39 kms from Calcutta, in present North 24 Parganas district.

On 14 January 1938, Swami Vijanananda performed the dedication of the temple and the consecration of the marble image of Sri Ramakrishna.

He received his monastic vows from Swami Brahmananda on 12 January 1920.
