Swami Haridas ( also in the Nimbarka Sampradaya ), the guru of Tansen, was a well known dhrupad singer.

The foremost Hindustani musician Tansen's teacher, Swami Haridas also a Saraswat Brahmin was Purandara Dasa's disciple.

At some point, he was discipled for some time to Swami Haridas, the legendary composer from Vrindavan and part of the stellar Gwalior court of Raja Man Singh Tomar ( 1486-1516 AD ), specializing in the dhrupad style of singing.

The interaction with Ghaus in the Sufi tradition and the earlier training with Swami Haridas in the Bhakti tradition led to a fusion of these streams in the work of Tansen.

In terms of influence, he can be compared only to the prolific sufi composer Amir Khusro ( 1253 – 1325 ), or to bhakti tradition composers such as Swami Haridas.

Swami Haridas was a spiritual poet and classical musician.

Swami Haridas is said to have been the teacher of Tansen, one of the ' nine gems ` of Akbar's court, and the renowned dhrupad singer and composer Baiju.

Following the example of Swami Shribhatta, Haridas continued to praise the Lord until the Lord manifested himself as Sri Banke Bihariji.

Swami Haridas ' spiritual disciples included Vitthal and Krishna Das who fostered his tradition of devotional music.

He describes Radha and Krishna's sporting beautifully :</ br > Two beams of light are playing -</ br > Unique their dance and music .</ br > Ragas and raginis of heavenly beauty are born ,</ br > The two have sunk themselves in the ocean of raga .</ br > Swami Haridas belonged to the tradition of madhura bhakti-Adoration expressed in conjugal imagery.

Mirabai, Thyagaraja from the South, Haridas Swami, Baiju – all these great composers and musicians were wandering saints ; they never came into society, nor performed in society.

It also includes a Holy Place of Hindu Saint Swami Haridas, CRPF Group Centre in Jharoda Kalan.

The Shankaracharya, at the end of his life, charged Brahmachari Mahesh with the responsibility of travelling and teaching meditation to the masses, while he named Swami Shantananda Saraswati as his successor.

Through his time in Delhi, teaching at the Vishwayatan Yoga Ashram of Swami Dhirendra Acharya, he had come to know the ruling Nehru family who were patrons and students of the swami.

Disciple of Satsvarupa dasa Goswami, Yadunandana Swami is originally from Spain, teaching among other subjects Bhaktivaibhava course at the college and is specialising on History of sannyasa in ISKCON.

Gangadhar took his monastic vow in 1890 in Baranagar Math, in presence of Swami Vivekananda and was given the name of " Akhandananda " ( Akhanda-undifferentiated, ananda-bliss, one who finds supreme bliss in the undifferentiated nature of the Truth ).

For the consecration of the Dham Shri Jagadguru Sankaryacharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswati in the presence of the Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling and his wife Smt Tika Maya Chamling did the “ Pran Prastisha ” of the Dham.

Bharananganam is also known as Dakshina Guruvayoor ( Guruvayoor of South ) because of the presence of Sree Krishna Swami Temple.

Some of those who are well-known today are Bal Chabda, Om Swami, V. S. Gaitonde, Krishen Khanna, Ram Kumar, Tyeb Mehta, Beohar Rammanohar Sinha and Akbar Padamsee.

Swami Sivananda, an Advaita scholar, reiterates the same views in his commentary synthesising Vedanta views on the Brahma Sutras, a Vedantic text.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, prominent figures of Indian spirituality such as Swami Vivekananda, Ramana Maharshi, Swami Sivananda and A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami emphasized the importance of ahimsa.

A fifth individual whom Drury identified as an important influence upon the New Age movement was the Indian Swami Vivekananda ( 1863 – 1902 ), an adherent of the philosophy of Vedanta who first brought Hinduism to the West in the late 19th century.

The temple at Arasavilli was constructed in such a way that on the day of Radhasaptami, the sun's rays directly fall on the feet of the Sri Suryanarayana Swami, the deity at the temple.

Thus Hinduism's consideration of itself as an Eastern extension of the Christian Gospel, however, is neither unique to Yogananda or his disciple, Swami Kriyananda.

In the field of religion, Huxley ’ s friend and spiritual mentor, the Vedantic monk Swami Prabhavananda, thought that mescaline was an illegitimate path to enlightenment, a " deadly heresy " as Christopher Isherwood put it.
