Swami Tapasyananda, in his book, Bhakti Schools of Vedanta, reminds readers that Vishnu pervades everything and is not anthropomorphic.

He stayed at Sivanada Ashram, Rishikesh for several years, and subsequently Swami Sivananda saw further potential in Swami Chinmayananda and sent him to study under a guru in the Himalayas-Swami Tapovan Maharaj under whom he studied for the following years.

In July 1890, accompanied by the fellow monk Swami Akhandananda ( also a disciple of Ramakrishna ), Vivekananda visited the Himalayas.

The same year, the famine relief work was started by Swami Akhandananda at Murshidabad district.

The temple was founded by Swami Satyamitranand Giri, on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar.

Since the 1960s, the mantra has been made well known outside of India by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and his International Society for Krishna Consciousness ( commonly known as " the Hare Krishnas ").
