Vyasathirtha had a huge family of shishyas ( students ) in which the prominent personalities to name a few are Purandaradasaru, Kanakadasaru, Vadirajaru, Vijayeendra Theertharu, Somanatha Kaviof " VYASA YOGI CHARITAM ".

Hearing one such performance, he was picked up by Pundit Appaya Swamy under whom he had his initial training in Carnatic music.

Andavan Ashram ( Mutt ) has a connection with Hemmige from the days of Periya Andavan, Chinna Andavan, KaTAndethi Andavan ( Srinivasa Ramanuja Maha Desikan ), Nam Andavan, Thembarai Andavan, Akkur Andavan, ThiruKudanthai Andavan who all visited Hemmige for some time and did the Mangala Sasnam of Varadharajar at Sri Varadharaja Swamy Temple.
