During this period, he recorded a set with Clark Terry on Serenade To a Bus Seat featuring the rhythm trio of Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones.

English Settlement is the last XTC album recorded while Terry Chambers was still a full member, although Chambers did appear on a few tracks of Mummer.

Gus Chambers ( 1958 – 13 October 2008 ) took over vocals in Coventry punk band Squad ( formed late 1977 ) from Terry Hall ( who left to form The Specials ).

This was the final album that Terry Chambers appeared on with XTC, as he quit the group during the recording sessions.

They first refused to record another album ( offering up the four-track EP Poguetry in Motion instead ); O ' Riordan married Costello and left the band, to be replaced by bassist Darryl Hunt, formerly of Plummet Airlines and Pride of the Cross ; and they added a multi-instrumentalist in Terry Woods, formerly of Steeleye Span.
