Ali ibn Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘ Abd al-Rahman was a prominent Persian physician who is thought to have lived in the 17th century.

All that is known of this figure is that he is cited as an authority by ‘ Ali ibn Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘ Abd al-Rahman who composed a versified Persian medical compendium titled Jawahir al-maqal, a copy of which is preserved at The National Library of Medicine.

Since ‘ Ali ibn Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘ Abd al-Rahman died possibly in 1700, then we can conclude that Mahmud ibn Ilyas Shirazi lived sometime before that date.

In the Middle Ages, the making of fūl was monopolized by the people living around the Princess Baths, a public bath in a tiny compound near today's public fountain of Muhammad ‘ Ali Pasha, a block north of the two elegant minarets of the Mosque of Sultan Mu ’ ayyad Shaykh above the eleventh-century Bab Zuwaylah gate.

Famous local Sheikhs include Abdirahman bin Isma ' il al-Jabarti, an early Muslim leader in northern Somalia ; Abadir Umar Ar-Rida, the patron saint of Harar ; Abd al-Rahman al-Jabarti, Sheikh of the riwaq in Cairo who recorded the Napoleonic invasion of Egypt ; Abd Al-Rahman bin Ahmad al-Zayla ' i, scholar who played a crucial role in the spread of the Qadiriyyah movement in Somalia and East Africa ; Shaykh Sufi, 19th century scholar, poet, reformist and astrologist ; Abdallah al-Qutbi, polemicist, theologian and philosopher best known for his five-part Al-Majmu ' at al-mubaraka (" The Blessed Collection "); and Muhammad Al-Sumaalee, teacher in the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca who influenced many of the prominent Islamic scholars of today.

In other words, Prince Faisal was backed by the religious establishment, which is headed by the Al Shaykh the descendants of Muhammad bin Abd al Wahab.

One influential figure in the group was Shaykh bin Baz, then rector of Al Medina college of Theology.

It is certified to this extent by Shaykh ' Abdul ' Aziz bin ' Abdullah bin Baz and Shaykh Umar Muhammad Fullata, two scholars of renown throughout the Sunni world during the latter half of the 20th century who also represent two of the most prominent institutions of Sunni Islamic scholarship, Dar ul-Ifta in Riyadh, Saudi-Arabia and Islamic University of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah in Medina, Saudi-Arabia.

Another was Shaykh Abdirrahman Abdullah of Mogadishu, who stressed deep mysticism.

Shaykh Tijani also took the Qadiriya while in Fez, then he left it after a while ; he then took the Nasiriyya ( after Sidi Mhammed Ben Nasir Dar ' i, d. 1674 ) from Sidi Mohammed ibn Abdullah Tazzani called “ ar-Rif ”, then left it ; then he took the Shadhilite Ghumariya ( after Sidi Ahmed ibn Abdelmoumin Ghumari Hassani ; d. 1847 ), first from a student, then in a dream from its founder, then he left it.

The Prophet had furthermore assigned to him the obligatory wird ( litany ) which he has to transmit in general and unstrictly to any seeker who asks for it and accepts to abide by its conditions ; 100 of Astaghfirou Allah (" I seek Allah ’ s forgiveness ") and 100 prayers upon the Prophet with any version, preferably with so-called Salat al-Fatih ( Shaykh Tijani said, “ The lives of all the people have been spent in futility, except the lives of the practisers of Salat al Fatih, for they have gained both worldly and otherworldly profit ".

These actions however met with stiff opposition from the Muslim clergy, especially the Sufi Shaykh Alf Sani Ahmad Sirhindi.

" However, beyond a reference of Tansen's name in a list of his disciples Miyan Tansen's name is not found among the names of the Mureeds ( Fans ) of the Shuttari Tariqat-a Sufi spiritual lineage founded by Shaykh Muhammad Ghaus of Gwalior.

Various pious Muslims, among them the Qadi of Bengal and the seminal Sufi personality Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindi, responded by declaring this to be blasphemy to Islam.

Shaykh Tijani was born in 1735 among the Tijana Berber tribe in Aïn Madhi, a small village in western-central Algeria about from the Laghouat.

This stand is also supported by Saudi scholars such as Shaykh Muhammad Bin Saalih al -' Uthaymeen who have issued fatwā saying Suicide bombings are haram and those who commit this act are not shaheed ( martyrs ).

If this book had been written by our Shaykh Zakariyya, or by anyone who believes awliyâ ’, it would have been copied with gold because, as a matter of fact, it has no equal: for ( Of the bounties of thy Lord We bestow freely on all, these as well as those: the bounties of thy Lord are not closed to anyone ) ( 17: 20 ).

Among those who favoured this view were Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah and al-Shawkaani.

I wonder that Shaykh Muhyī ' l-Dīn appears in vision to be one of those with whom God is pleased, while most of his ideas which differ from the doctrines of the People of truth appear to be wrong and mistaken.

Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Gilani has mentioned in his book ” Ghunyat li Talibee Tariqil Haqq ” ( i. e., The Gift for those seeking the path of truth ) that the month of Shaban according to some narrations is related to Muhammad ﷺ.

Others have speculated that the word comes from the Arabic-Persian word Darazo ( " bliss ") or from Shaykh Hussayn ad-Darazī, who was one of the early converts to the faith.

During his first trip he had encountered a holy man, Shaykh Abul Hasan al Shadili, who prophesied that he would only reach Mecca by travelling through Syria.

He was the son of Shaykh Hassan Salameh, who was killed in action by the Israel Defence Forces during the 1948 Arab – Israeli War, north of Jaffa.

Kirkuk avoided the troubles caused by the British-backed Shaykh Mahmud, who quickly attempted to defy the British and establish his own fiefdom in Sulaymaniyah.

Inscriptions on two of the graves identify one as that of Hamad ' Isa al-Hajj, and another as that of Shaykh Salih Iskandar, who died in 1940.

Many prominent figures from the Islamic period in Palestine were born or buried in Hittin according to early Arab geographers such as Yaqut al-Hamawi and al-Ansari al-Dimashqi ( who himself was called the Shaykh of Hittin ).

He was born on 14 Feb 1483 in present day Uzbekistan, the eldest son of Amir Umar Shaykh Mirza, the son of Abū Saʿīd Mirza ( and grandson of Miran Shah, who was himself son of Timur ) and his wife Qutlugh Nigar Khanum, daughter of Younus Khan, the ruler of Moghulistan ( and great-great grandson of Abhavh Timur, the son of Esen Buqa II, who was the great-great-great grandson of Chaghatai Khan, the second born son of Genghis Khan ).

After some of the Shi ` ah clergy complained, the government moved her to Baghdad, where she resided at the home of the mufti of Baghdad, Shaykh Mahmud Alusi, who was impressed by her devotion and intellect.
