All of these were quarto editions, with one exception: The True Tragedy of Richard Duke of York, the first edition of Henry VI, part 3, was printed in octavo form in 1594.

Over the course of the next three years, four plays with their name on the title page were published ; Christopher Marlowe's Edward II ( published in quarto in July 1593 ), and Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus ( published in quarto in 1594 ), The True Tragedy of Richard Duke of York ( published in octavo in 1595 ) and The Taming of a Shrew ( published in quarto in May, 1594 ).

There are only minor differences between the 1594 and subsequent 1623 texts ( i. e. the 1594 text is not considered a bad quarto or a reported text ).

: Evidence: According to the title page of the 1594 quarto, the play had been performed by Pembroke's Men, a company which ceased performing in September 1593.

Field released a second quarto in 1594, then transferred his copyright to John Harrison (" the Elder "), the stationer who published the first edition of The Rape of Lucrece, also in 1594.
