The SR mission in the region of Camp Rhino lasted for four days, after which two United States Air Force Combat Control Teams made a nighttime HALO jump to assist the SEALs in guiding in Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit who seized control of the area and established a Forward operating base.

Prior to the completion of the current Air France head office in Tremblay-en-France in December 1995, Air France was headquartered in a tower located next to the Gare Montparnasse rail station in Montparnasse and in the 15th arrondissement ; Air France had its headquarters in the tower for about 30 years.

In April 1953 the Air Defense Command's ( ADC ) 15th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron was activated with F-86A Sabres.

Most of the planes were destroyed, but 12 pilots assigned to the 15th Pursuit Group at Wheeler ( predecessor of the 15th Air Base Wing ) succeeded in getting their P-36 Hawk and P-40 Warhawk aircraft off the ground, engaged the enemy in furious dogfights, and scored some of the first American victories of World War II.

The unit was redesignated the 6487th Support Squadron on 1 April 1955, then inactivated on 1 November 1971, concurrent with activation of the 15th Air Base Squadron.

A subordinate unit of the 15th Air Base Wing, the 15 ABS served as the host organization at Wheeler AFB, which consisted of approximately 1, 389 acres of land and facilities valued at over $ 37 million.

The installation, however, remained on the real property records of the 15th Air Base Wing until 15 March 1993 when an Action Memorandum signed by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force ( Environment, Safety and Occupational Health ) and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army ( Installations and Housing ) authorized the exchange of Wheeler AFB for Fort Kamehameha Military Reservation.

In the summer of 1946, the base was transferred to the Strategic Air Command ( SAC ) and assigned to the 15th Air Force ( 15 AF ).

In April 1950, the Air Staff reassigned the base from 15th Air Force to 8th Air Force.

The 15th AF returned to a combat-ready role as a result of the 1948 Berlin Crisis, A squadron from the 301st Bombardment Group was deployed with its B-29s at Fürstenfeldbruck Air Base, Germany.

The 15th OWS, located at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, is responsible for the Northern and Northeast United States ; 25th OWS, located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, is responsible for the Western United States ; and 26th OWS, located at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, is responsible for the Southern United States.

As of February 2008, the other surviving Credible Sport aircraft, 74-2065, was assigned to the 317th Airlift Group, 15th Expeditionary Mobility Task Force, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, in gray scheme with blue tail band.

Brooks City-Base deactivated the 311th Air Base Group on 1 Sept, 2011, and the remaining few USAF personnel had shuttered the base for good by the 15th of that month.

In 1960, a tactical reconnaissance mission was added to the wing with the arrival of the McDonnell RF-101 Voodoo and the 15th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron.

After receiving his wings and commission in January 1941, Welch was posted to the 47th Pursuit Squadron, 15th Pursuit Group, at Wheeler Field, Oahu, Hawaii in February 1941.

The aircraft was manufactured in 1943 with original US serial number 42-5694 and delivered to USAAF 15th Troop Carrier Squadron ( 61st Troop Carrier Group ).
